Tom Hanks: Pawn of Satan?

So says author in reference to 'Angels & Demons.' And the Donohue-Howard feud continues.

hanks.jpg
"It's sad that a great actor like Tom Hanks has become a pawn of Satan and is aiding the cover-up of the existence of the Illuminati today and is a part of Dan Brown's fraud."

So says Mark Dice, author of The Illuminati: Facts & Fiction, of the movie star's role in the upcoming film version of Angels & Demons, based on Brown's book of the same title. A&D is a prequel to The Da Vinci Code.

Dice went on to say that "Brown's book, as well as the film, serves only as disinformation and a whitewash of the real Illuminati."

Dice is founder of something called The Resistance, which on its website calls itself "a conservative political and media watchdog and activist organization focused on preserving family values and upholding the Constitution of the United States."

Take Dice's words with a grain of salt. A loose cannon who also goes by the pseudonym "John Conner" (a la the Terminator saga), Dice has called the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. "an inside job" by the U.S. government. He has also demanded that demanded that Duke University change the school nickname of "Blue Devils" because it's "offensive to the Christian community." (No report on whether he has a problem with Wake Forest's "Demon Deacons" or Arizona State's "Sun Devils" or . . . Oh, nevermind.)

It's not the first attack on Angels & Demons. The Catholic League's William Donohue dissed the film, prompting director Ron Howard to respond last week. And now Donohue has responded to Howard's response:

"Ron Howard must be delusional if he thinks Vatican officials are going to like his propaganda - they denied him the right to film on their grounds," says Donohue. "Moreover, we know from a Canadian priest who hung out with Howard's crew last summer in Rome (dressed in civilian clothes) just how much they hate Catholicism. It's time to stop the lies and come clean."

Somehow, I don't think Howard is waiting in the batter's box to step up and take the next swing. But I also bet we haven't heard the last of this, either.

Because the whole Hollywood elite hates anything to do with christianity, the most logical target is the Catholic church. It is not suffering the decline seen in the fundamentalist and evangelical ranks. In addition, the Catholic church is seen by many as the focus of christianity in the international circles. Therefore, it is logical for Hollywood to attack. Thank our lord we have a pope that will take on these attacks. Let all christians from every faith and denomination unite and fight Hollywood at every corner.

tom hanks has always disrespected Christians and Jews in his movies. It's usually a line or two. I no longer watch his movies or anything that ron howard has his hands in.
easy to say about hanks? examples off of the top of my head... apollo 13 "it wasn't a miracle that we went to the moon, we just wanted to go" implying that it was man's doing not God's help. An older movie where he was an American pilot fighting for the British. When his love intrest asked him if he wanted to see the tomb of David, hank's said "no" and when she asked if he believed in God he said that if there was a God he had a lot of explaining to do. hank's sacriligous sign of the cross in a league of their own. That bachelor movie with the nun's head on a naked body, a movie with I believe Jackie Gleason where he slams the Catholic Church.......
just off the top of my head...

Tom Hanks...not a pawn, just an actor, if one remembers how films are made and marketed.

(Even the director and producer(s) have limited power, once the film is "delivered" to the distributor.

Now, I would be putting money on the exhibitors, distributors, those doing the marketing, publicity, promotions, arranging the roll- out tours, collecting the receipts.

For those, we should be readying the Rack and Iron Maiden(sadly, now retired).

The film itself is just so many digital (now) ones and zeros on a storage medium.

Lastly, Catholic family, don't even consider a boycott (more copy for the public relations/publicity mills to get even more butts into the seats and later, eyeballs on the DVD).

Blessed weekend to all.

It would be nice if the church cleaned up its own act before
placing blame for it's demise on Hollywood. When was the last time you saw the church dig deep in it's pocket and helped a family who's breadwinner had lost his/her job. I know first hand, even when you go to you family priest when you husband has died and you are left with six children under the age of 12 that their response is "what do you expect us to do"? however, they have no problem going arould with their hand out looking for non-taxable donations.

I'm very disappointed that people choose to only see what they want to see and are blinded by liberal media. Everyday Christians are helping the homeless, widows, the orphans, the welfare people. Open your heart to go see what christian churches do with their funding -- even overseas to help bring clean water and sanitary conditions to the poorest countries.

Tom Hanks is a gifted actor. His gift is being able to portray characters other than himself in movies.Folk, this is ACTING-not real life. Do any of you believe all the bad guys in old westerns were really bad guys in real life.I really have no idea what Tom Hank's personal views on religion are, but I fail to see what all the fuss is about here.

I personally have no interest in the absurd fictional story "The Da Vinci Code" and chose not to watch the movie. However, Tom Hanks has starred in a number of movies I've seen & enjoyed. There are many terrible problems in this world that are worth getting upset over. In my view, this is NOT one of them!!

There is a reason the back of the book says fiction...

Charlotte - FYI, the Catholic Church leads in caritable work around the world in one form or another, You, of course, apparently cannot admit it. We pay a great deal of taxes in this country for permanent or temporary programs to help those in need. I'm sure your friend was advised as to who to contact. The church cannot support families, only help in crisis periods and furnishing pertinent information. Be real.

"The church cannot support families, only help in crisis periods and furnishing pertinent information"

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

That's what one leader of the church once wrote, James 1:27.

So of course the church can, and the church has, and the church did. And, truth be told, some in the church still do. Those that don't... well, I guess they're impure and defiled before God.

The church does do charitable work around the world, that's true, but if those in its own community are falling by the wayside and have to go elsewhere, then there's really nothing other than rhetoric in the message being preached.

The church, of course, not being limited to the organization, but made up of all the people who attend. If people are starving or lost, and no one is around to reach out to them, then it's not really a church at all, not according to the New Testament. Even if there's a sign out front.

Those people that condemn Catholics and their parishes usually are the people that never help others. Some Catholic parishes are very poor, with members that give very little if anything. For the record, Catholics own about 350,000 hospitals, primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities, orphanages, clinics, homes for the aged. Those people who complain don't care to know that Catholics have their limits. The people who complain about the Catholic Church are usually bigots who hate Catholics and the Catholic Church. Next time ask these bigots how much they have contributed to the poor. Usually it's nothing. How many of you have seen a hospital set up by atheists and disgruntled people who condemn Catholics and the Catholic Church? Where?

DUMBEST article EVER.

I've read Angels and Demons, and the trailor of the film looks like it'll be BIGGER and better than the Da Vinci Code. Having a film created by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks is a creative team, which the Vatican can't make a dent against. The amount of tourism the Vatican and greater Rome will receive from the interest this film,,,,every city should have such a problem. Actually any squawking of stupid old bloated Bill Donahue, will DOUBLE the box offce Angels and Demons.

My church--Catholic--does a lot to assist the poor and needy, so when attackers say the church just takes money, that individual does not know what he or she is talking about. Her and his church may be an exception, but every one I have ever attended has done a lot to give assistance that is needed. The Catholic Charities alone gives hundreds of thousands to those in need.

Charlotte, the Catholic church is the most charitable organization in history. This is not Catholic propaganda but also the view of many secularists and anti-Catholic's. There are of course bad people in the church and people who do bad things (Judas and Peter are a great example) but there are many other priests and organizations that do a great amount of charitable work. It is never fair to criticize a whole group or organizations by the sins of a few.

The war is between Heaven and Hell, satan and Christ.

Christ has His Church.

satan or Lucifer, has his church, Babylon.

each require Members.

Lucifer was angel in Grace, but fell, Revelations 9.
And then he gets tossed into the Abyss Revelations 20.

Then God lets Lucifer out for the last time but is immediately defeated again and tossed back into the abyss
Revelations 20.

The Church in Revelations sits on top the ruins of Babylon.

This is it's meaning: Hell will never prevail over the Church. But men joined to Babylon, don't get it. God is stronger, thus making Him Strongest.

Peace in Christ

What the people who are defending Tom Hanks don't see, is that his portrayals in this type movie, as well as they story itself, are undermining the Catholic church and our beliefs. These books by dan Brown have an agenda and it is not necessarily only entertainment. He is bent on trying to make the Catholic church lose credability. Sorry folks, this is wrong and is a form of anti Catholicism and bigotry.

Tom Hanks, a member of the liberal Hollywood/Broadway arts media elite, is only doing what he and others like him know what to do--put out films and plays that depict one side and one side only. And so long as this group exists expect a biased, ultra-liberal world view in theaters and playhouses. The bad guys will always be religious fanatics, corrupt businesses and corporations, conservative reactionaries, and the military industrial complex--the same groups that were recently singled out by the Department of Homeland Security.

Ever since the malicious "Da Vinci Code," I've vowed I will NEVER ever purchase, rent, or watch anything starring Tom Hanks, or directed/produced by Ron Howard. I have kept my vow and I will continue doing so.

As for those commentators here who intone ad nauseum that Hanks is just an actor, blah, blah, blah:

Well, actors still CHOOSE from among movie offers, and both Hanks & Howard have chosen, again & again, anti-Christian vehicles.

Hanks is an actor & Howard is a director. News flash! I'm a consumer, and with the little bit of power I exercise, I choose NOT to give my business to either of them -- not ever.

I'm struck by what Charlotte said, personally, because WE ARE the Church and I feel like we need to take care of each other like the earliest Christians in the New Testament did. If a fellow parishioner needs help, everyone in the parish who can help in any way possible (money, food, driving, errands, babysitting, cooking, cleaning, just being there for her as a sister or brother in Christ) SHOULD! What good is it to send a check to a foreign country if we ignore the person sitting next to us in church?
Before we judge movies, books, etc. I agree - let's get our own act together first. At the very least, we might have more credibility and leverage with those other issues when we challenge them.

No more going to see Hanks or Howards movies. With so much going on in the world all they got to do is bash the Catholic Church? Give me a break..These hollywood liberals give me such a headache. Don't spent any money for their movies and they'll just fade away.......

I'm writing to comment, not on the movie (I'll never see it and am sorry so many others will), but on this article's misleading subtitle. It makes one think Brown, not Dice, called Hanks a pawn of Satan. Just a typo, I suppose--though "So says author of The Illuminati" might not, on the other hand, draw as many readers. Better proofing clearly needing!

Reid, good catch on the subtitle. That WAS a typo. It's been fixed now for clarity. Thanks for pointing it out.

I, for one, am simply happy that religion overall is accelerating into irrelevance. That's it, nothing more, nothing less... I know you see it yourself. :)

HI Tom,
You are a great actor who is getting himself into the wrong roles...Please learn to respect Christ and his teachings...Christ suffered enough he was cruicified and you are crucifying HIM once again. Please Tom do not do roles that hurt others. I PRAY THAT YOU GET TO EXPERIENCE
what Jesus did for all of US I don't know what religion you
belong too? Have you seen people who SUFFER , have you seen the POOR and STARVING,have you seen the INJURED and the restless...You are up there because people ACCEPTED you and respected your work...WAKE UP TOM HANKS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE...DO NOT CRUCIFY JESUS CHRIST WITH YOUR WORK.

FROM
MARIA in Mumbai

Church should not blame Tom Hanks for this, he is such a sweet guy.

Hi ,

Don't bring the church into the picture..We as individuals are commenting and please give respect and gain respect..Is Tom some kind of sweet/toffee...

it's just a movie...

chip... chip... chip...

chip... chip... chip...

This is to The Count.
So christ sufferend? thought he was a God?

This is sad... chip n Rita...No one is with a conscience anymore. This world is only about money.

This is sad chip n Rita there is no conscience anymore this world is all about making money, money, money..People
will go to any extent say anything do anything as long as their will comes through even if it has to cause harm and hurt to someone else...

people have to stop looking to the pope like he is god!! and talking about the catholic church like it will save them! the pope will not save your soul! only jesus will! mary cannot help so dont pray to her! pray to GOD in the name of his son! stop the idolatry with mary and the pope!

Learn about the Illuminati who are trying to destroy the church:

They are real and if Christians don't stand up to them then we will soon know what persecution means here in the United States.

More here:

The Illuminati and the New World Order are one in the same and they are VERY REAL.

As the Documentary ENDGAME points out:

Christians need to be aware of this stuff.

Hi Ralph,

The Pope can never be God and the Pope has a duty to perform his place is special in GODS eyes dont bring him into the pic...This is not about the Pope.

hi Ralph,

The Pope is not the problem here...every country has a leader they look upto and respect, every organisation or company has a chairperson or a manager or a boss to report
too..The Pope is not God, but has a very special place that is respected..Please dont go off track.

Hi

All i want to know is he(Tom)a born again Christian /a believer in God and Jesus his son?

God bless!

Two things - the "anti-Catholic" comments by any of those actors only serves to flame the fires of passions stirring up controversy and driving people to the theatres to see what the fuss is all about. More $$$$$ for them because they did their PR job.

An inresponse to the person who says you can't go to a priest and get help. The church has societys and associations set up to help those people.. i.e Caritas, Catholic Charities, etc. The poor priests only get a small stipend to live on... perhaps the thing to do was ask where to get help. Our family was helped more times, than I can count on my fingers and toes when my father was laid off, on-strike, and died.

My mother was faithfully visited by a deacon every weekend when she was infirmed and he helped her get registered for meals on wheels.

I can't even begin to say how much the nuns helped, dishes, etc. when we needed them.

I don't give credit to anyone who disobeys the church .. i.e abortion rights, pre-marital sex, and then wants to leave an opinion of what the church should do. That's not how God's laws work.. he gives them and we obey them. We don't say the church should change because we don't agree with it.. it's a slippery slope to hell. God Bless and provide you with peace and guidance.

To be honest it is difficult as he is an actor playing a role in a movie - thats his job isn't it?

Today I visited a site on the inqueisition. I had to leave the site or hurl. Then yesturday I found out that the word Vatican means ‘THE DIVINING SERPENT’. That sounds like devil worshipping to me. On top of that the Crest on the Vatican is a dragon. No lie, go see for your self. The Dragon isn't the only Pagan symbol used by the Roman Catholic Church, they are all over the place.

Revelation tells us that Satan will deceive all. All of you have been deceived. Dragon = Serpent = Satan. Everything the Catholic Church tells you is a lie. Do not follow Satan.

Go to the true God and run from Satan.

Jesus Christ is coming King and Judge. I pray all those who do not have faith in Jesus as the ONLY WAY, TRUTH AND LIFE will repent before it is too late. I pray for Tom Hanks to have saving faith in Jesus as well as all those involved in attacking the truth about Jesus and the Bible. I plead for mercy on their souls before standing at the judgment seat of Jesus.

Tom Hanks is a Greek Orthodox Christian.

I'm a Christian, and I read The Da Vinci Code, and Dan Brown is one of my favorite authors (I've read all of his books). It's just FICTION, so get over it. It's not real, it's just a theory.

Dan Brown is also a Christian, and just because he wrote a book that is "against" the Catholic Church doesn't mean he's not!

It's just like Harry Potter, I'm a HUGE fan of those books, and people think it's all about witchcraft and s--- like that. J.K. Rowling is also a Christian, and I've noticed some Christian messages in those books.

Besides, there are a lot of other books, movies and T.V. shows about that stuff and Chrisitans don't think THISE are "offensive."

"The church cannot support families, only help in crisis periods and furnishing pertinent information"

heh i just say let them live their own lives worry about your own and you might get some where in life.

I like Tom Hanks.I think being an actor, He will act what the director wants him to be on a certain film, act what the story would like him to portray,so let's not judge him the way he acted on certain movies like in "Da Vinci Code",don't forget his other films like "Sleepless in Seatle" or "That thing you do", did you hear him say about the church on this films?,

mhmm its all just a movie watch it for entertainment

While everyone is entitled to their opinion and priorities, I really get tired of people like Dice who spend their time and energy bickering over stuff like Hanks being a pawn of Satan. Honestly, they need to get out. Out of their bubbles where they somehow believe Christians are offended by the Blue Devils (We're not. At all.) and put themselves to better use digging wells for villages in Africa or building homes in South America. Perhaps even Dice doesn't truly believe what he squawks about, maybe he's just looking for attention. But regardless of who believes what, if there is petty bickering and pointing of fingers, then time is being wasted that could otherwise be spent on something worthwhile.

is that the sequel of da vinci code?

It amazes me how incredibly quick to judge and ignorant people are, especially when it comes to the entertainment world. It is a MOVIE, it is FICTION. It's no wonder Christians have such a bad rap in today's world. We've done nothing but bring it on ourselves. Jesus gave us two commands in the New Testament - Love God, and Love Other People. It's discussions like this that remind me that we do a really lousy job at both. If Hanks is indeed pushing an agenda against the Church (which I doubt, since he professes to being an Orthodox Christian), then we should be praying for him instead of bashing him on a discussion board. It's really disappointing.
