A resolution that's bound to get attention this weekend.
"In order for Satan to establish his 'New World Order' and destroy the freedom of all people as predicted in the Scriptures, he must first destroy the U.S.," says a proposed resolution to be debated at the Utah County Republican Party Convention this weekend. "There are ways to destroy a nation other than with bombs or bullets. The mostly quiet and unspectacular invasion of illegal immigrants does not focus the attention of the nation the way open warfare does but is all the more insidious for its stealth and innocuousness."
Don Larsen's resolution calls for the county party to support "closing the national borders to illegal immigration to prevent the destruction of the U.S. by stealth invasion." (Sources: Deseret Morning News and Salt Lake Tribune)
My guess: No Utah County Republican Party Convention resolution will have in the past or will ever in the future see the media coverage that this resolution will see.
So here's the question: apart from Larsen's apocalypticism, if you believe breaking the law is sinful, then do you think that there is demonic involvement in illegal immigration? And if you believe that America's immigration policy is sinful, do you think that there is demonic involvement in the slow progress in changing it? Follow up questions: Do you believe prayer would change illegal immigration? If so, have you ever prayed about it?

I believe in the law of the land. Partially as it is in scripture, and seems to make good sense.
I believe in immigration. Yet not in the open border of today.

Perhaps Satan already has his new world order well in place. Its calle the USA. With our policies of killing and /or controlling those who threaten our economic policies and doing very little to upgrade living standards of poor nations, and making sure the rich get te accumulate more wealth at the expense of others and on and on. Does anyone really believe that the USA somehow reflects God's will in and for this world? And if not God's then whose philosophy does it represent and implement?
We Christians would be wise to disengage the notion of US nationalism and goals as somehow compatible with the teachings of Jesus. The church did not stand up to Hitler and look at the result.
Nor to Stalin. Nor to Bush. Nationalism and Living in God's kingdom are mutually exclusive.
Check out http://www.whowouldjesuskill.net/ for a humerous but deadly serious look at where our thiking is going. The Don Larsen's of this world are very frightening indiviuals if their type of thiking ever carries the day

This is a very dangerous suggestion. It is impossible to tell for many reasons whether the immigrants that pass through the border really are illegal. For many people, there may be a legitimate remedy available, either through asylum or other immigration laws, that would allow them to naturalize. Other people that cross the border are actually American citizens under the statutory definition but don't realize it. Closing the national borders is a horrendously overbroad solution, which would deprive a considerable number of people of legitimate relief available under the law.

The people of North America have voted with their feet; they want to live in the US of North America; so let the US Military over run NA from the Artic Ocean to Colombian Border & kill the upper class 2% of males of over ran nations.. Let only those with excellent command of English become US citizens after 4th generation. Still enforce Immigration Laws for US proper, prohibit non English newpapers & media & books. Upper Class 2% of males of Nations to be over ran, have committed many, many aggresssions against US, so must be killed. If that is not sufficient, all males over the age of 12 may be killed, if that does not work, then all males should be killed, all according to Biblical Precidents.

It is alarming to see the ignorant and hateful comments to this question. We need a guest worker program, yet we need to stop the flow of illegals. It is not the right question to ask if breaking the law is sinful in this context because people are desperate for better lives, and also, do not understand American laws many times. The US was founded by Godly Christian people and yes, the US does still exist because some people are still praying and God is gracious. People with hateful views of the US, as in your commentors, should leave this country, and they do not deserve to live here! I now wonder at your reading audience- who are these people?

Regardless of which party you vote for this resolution is deeply un Christian!
It assumes by default that immigrants are evil, Satan's helpers to destroy - how racist can you get????
I am not in favor of open borders, and support immigration control - but this sort of thing disgusts me

We've all heard of terrorists, right? When we hear of this, we think of planes crashing into buildings and suicide bombers. Not always. We have a silent killer out there..a silent terrorist problem. It deals with illegal immigrants who come over to our country and terrorize us. They rape women, steal, murder...all to repay us (even if we had nothing to do with keeping them from our country) for not letting them in. I was raped by a Mexican in L.A. in May 2007. They wanted to keep me as a hostage and make me work. I ran away, but they were trying to smuggle more people over here from Mexico. They said all these things in front of me, in English (surprisingly enough.) Now you tell me if Satan is working it or not.
