Ruth Graham's epitaph
The Grahams' hometown newspaper, the Asheville Citizen-Times, has several articles on Ruth today, along with video, audio, and photos.
The paper's editorial today ends by noting the epitaph Ruth herself proposed in Celebrating an Extraordinary Life: "End of Construction: Thank You for Your Patience."

Hi, Ted. You've done a great job covering Ruth Graham's death. I was wondering if you could either add a "tag" to all those posts, or establish a category for them, which would enable a person to access all of them with one link. Thanks.

The normal thing for human to do whenever they hear of someone, especially a loved one, passing away, is to shed tears. When I heard that Mrs. Graham was gone to be with the Lord, I stopped and thought for a long time, but then again I thought wooo she fought a good fight. What a legacy. She is with the Lord now. This lady is with the Lord now. May the good Lord bless the Graham family even in times like these.

Ruth Graham was a true warrior of the faith, same as Billy & all others who have lived for the Lord most of their lives. I have been a follower of Jesus since the age of 13 (30's now) and I have always given my thanks to these people like Billy Graham, Kenneth Hagin (also gone but will always be remembered) & of course Ruth Graham for truly doing their best to give us the truths, knowledge & beliefs that we have really needed over the years & these truths will always keep us strong. Thanks Ruth for always being a warrior of Christ & always being so outspoken about your beliefs & convictions.

The man is the head but it takes a good woman to turn the head.

What an incredible woman of God.
If I could learn from her life, and be even tiny bit like her, I know God would be pleased.
See you soon, Mrs. Graham.

This is like losing a member of the family -- I was born into paying attention to and identifying with Billy Graham. I'm so glad Ruth Graham had her family all around her and those last, retired years with her husband, full-time. And with more to come...I have no doubt that the credit he gives her (in his profound and lovely understanding that his ministry is God's and there are a host of people in "Billy Graham Assoc.") is coming Home to roost in Ruth's Crown, now.

What a humble, gracious and selfless lady Mrs. Graham was! I was invited to join the team as a soloist in the Taiwan Crusade in 1975. During that one night of heavy downpour during the crusade Mrs.Graham who sat next to me offered me her umbrella and insisted that I kept it permanently. When asked to speak to a large women's group one morning she accepted the invitation rather reluctantly although I could sense she was a strong and capable woman of God. I count it a tremendous privilege to have known her. Even in the short 2 weeks in Taiwan and Hong Kong for the two crusades her life has left an indelible imprint on my life. Thank you, God, for showing us through Mr.Graham's life how You can mold one obedient person into such a priceless treasure. Mrs.Graham, you are an inspiration to me and to millions of other women all over the world.

My sympathies to the Graham family, but all of these stories seem like overkill for those of us who never heard of Ruth Graham. Imagine all the days of media when Mr. goes to meet his reward.

I also grew up in a family that closely followed Billy Graham and his godly ministry, so Mrs. Graham has always been well-known to me and, I'm sure, to just about anyone who grew up in evangelical Christianity during the 1940s and on through most of last century. My sister and I grew misty-eyed together (over the phone) as we marveled that Mrs. Graham had preceded her husband into Heaven and together wondered whether he'd join her there soon.
The Grahams have been an immeasurable blessing to the world for many, many decades. After all these years and numerous evangelical scandals, the Grahams still stand as examples of godly integrity and humility. I am so grateful for them.

Mrs. Graham is one great woman in the ministry, particularly Dr. Billy Graham. Ministers' wives should learn from the life of this significant pastor's wife. Each pastor's wife should read her life as an example. There are many things in this Christian pastor's wife to be examples and guide to many pastors' wives all over the world. There will be more successful pastors in their ministry if a woman like Mrs. Graham becomes a model and a pattern of support. Our prayers for the Graham family. May the good Lord give you the blessed grace as Mrs. Graham goes home to the Lord.

My wife joins me in expressing that our hearts and prayers are with the Graham family. As a husband, in a very dear special way my heart goes to Pastor Billy Graham.

My prayers are with all of the Graham Family. Ruth Graham has always been an inspiration to me and I will miss her but look forward to meeting her in heaven. I watched the dedication of the Graham library and was moved deeply by Billy Graham's words of love for his wife. The world today has no idea what kind of love that is. I have been married 39 years and I am in full time ministry to the sick, dying and bereaved and those who journey with them. My prayer is that I will be able with the help of the Lord to finish well, just like Ruth Graham did! May we continue to be inspired by the Word of God that transforms lives and may we know the transforming power of God in our lives just as Ruth Graham did! How blessed we were to have her with us for so long. She was not only a gift to Billy Graham and her family but a gift to all of us.

Billy Graham and his wife Ruth have made an impact in my life. I have been challenged by their marriage, their love for God, their devotion to God's work. I have never met the Graham's in person, but I can say that Billy Graham and Ruth have lived a life of good reputation, and they are well respected by people who are not believers. I am a minister of the gospel but I have been a student of the Graham's ministry here in Kenya. May God raise more people like Ruth. Rev. Kibii arap Maiyo in Kenya.

After reading my first book of Ruth Graham's, Sitting by My Laughing Fire, I have been an avid reader of whatever she's written. I especially appreciate her poetry, which reveals a heart totally committed to the Lord she loved and to the family she loved. Her legacy of inspired writings will live on.

I have also been blessed in ways that i cannot even say. I have never met any of the Grahams but i know as a pastor's wife people expect a acertain form of behaviour. Ruth lived to it. We thank God for the family and Ruth who happens to have the same name as my Mom- i know i will meet you one day and then we will hug each other. So it wll have been worth the wait to get to know you because in heaven we will have lunch together and have a nap after lunch. Wont that be great!. God bless you. You have indeed left a legacy.

Ruth Graham though not personnally known to me must have been a very remarkable woman to have affected much lives and because this is quite true of her life, i'm sure that as she rests in the bosom of the Lord awaiting the the great day of reunion, that she will smile down seeing her legacies still affecting lives even in her absence.
Billy Graham and the entire family should rejoice that they have not lost someone but that they have sent her on rest from great labours waiting for the wonderful day of big hugs and ALLELUIA.

Isn't it amazing how God works? Six billion people in the world and Billy found Ruth! Even though they weren't always together, because of their relationship with Jesus Christ, they were never really apart.

I am delighted to be given this opportunity to comment on Ruth, so great an influence to Christian women all over the world.
I became an admirer of Mrs Graham many years ago when I read "A Time For Remembering". I learnt from her that the place of honor for a Christian woman is in doing what is possible in Christ to keep the home-front going if your husband has to be away most of the time.
We only got to hear about her ill health not long ago and now she has gone to her rest in her Lord whom she loved until death. My family's prayers are with her husband, Children and others.
I must not forget to add that this morning, reading about all she was and what were said about her on passing to glory, I wept thinking soberly about what legacy I will leave for my children. In effect Ruth's death is still a huge sermon to me as a mother(I am a Christian in my early 50s). I have rededicated my life to ensuring that God helping me, I contribute (more)daily to leaving a Christian legacy behind when my own time is up.

Through Billy Graham's crusade in Sydney in 1959 I gave my life to Jesus Christ after arriving in Australia from Holland in August 1958.
Thanks to such a wonderful couple, Billy and Ruth Graham.
PS. I still carry a small booklet which I obtained during the crusade. The booklet contains all the songs of praise sung by the choir. Praise to our Lord and Saviour.

"A woman of noble character who can find? She worths far more than rubies." Billy Graham found that woman. There are so many like her but she surpass them all. She is finally where she worked hard for. Ruth, continue intercessing for us all. Thank you for being a great mentor. I feel like I grew up with you and your family. Billy Graham and the children, thank you for sharing and blessing us all with your beloved Ruth. "Let's not cry because it's over, Let's smile because it happened" We wish you well on your trip Ruth. God be with you till we meet again.

Mrs.Ruth Graham's remarkable godly life is a great example and a fine legacy to women all over the world. Genesis 24 vs.59: "Our sister may you increase to thousnds upon thousands; may your offspring possess the gates of their enemies." Elizabeth Dominic-Chennai, Tamil Nadu, South India.

"Far beyond rubies", is the Bible's description. And those that knew her, couldn't agree more. God shows His will to those that ask,
Dr. Graham asked, and surely he recieved a fine gift from God!
