The former president may still be able to access school funds, say reports.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I posted a brief note about Richard Roberts resignation as president of Oral Roberts University, the school founded by his famous faith-healing evangelist father.
But how significant is that resignation? Here are a couple of paragraphs from today's coverage on The Chronicle of Higher Education's website (subscription required):
Despite the controversies, Mr. Roberts has declared his intention to remain as chairman and chief executive of Oral Roberts Ministries, the central organization in the empire that includes the university.
Because of the ties between the two groups, Mr. Roberts's resignation from the university will have limited effect on his ability to misuse its funds if he remains in control of Oral Roberts Ministries, Tim Brooker, one of the three former professors who brought the lawsuit, told The Oklahoman, a newspaper in Oklahoma City.
As the university's regents search for a new president, and as candidates' names are rumored about, it will become clearer whether or not they are heading in the direction of reform. The new president needs to have few personal ties to Richard Roberts, or the credibility of his or her administration will need to be established over several years of hard decisions.
And, apparently, ORU's new president will have to make some tough decisions. More from the Chronicle:
The university, meanwhile, has reported itself as more than $50 million in debt. Much of the debt stems from the failure of the university's City of Faith hospital complex, which was intended to combine modern medicine with a belief in the power of prayer.

as one born & raised in tulsa nothing that happens on the oru campus surprises me. everything the robert's family believes & does can be traced back to their aberrant teaching. it is way past time for those who embrace the "health & wealth" gospel to do some serious soul-searching.

Seed Faith and Health and Wealth Doctrine is really the selling of indulgences. How would one start a Protestant Reformation today?
The predominance of these people in the TV relgious broadcasting allows them a platform for their heresy. Where are the evangelical publications and media outlets and seminaries and Bible schools who need to counter this heresy? Annually hundreds of millions of dollars are being used to promote this. Millions of people are being deceived. Holding the truth in love should not allow so many to stand by and do nothing. How would Martin Luther handle this?

Oh Lord! Enlighten the unbelievers with a sign of your presence! Test the faith of your servants Richard & Lindsay Roberts, Benny Hinn, Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Paul & Jan Crouch, Joyce Meyers, Paula White, and Creflo Dollar as you did with your servant Job! Allow Satan to take away their riches, houses, cars, and planes, and smite them with dreadful boils. Make the women bald and the men to wear Jan Crouch's wigs. When they, as Job, refuse to curse your name, the unbeliever’s eyes may then be opened!

I don't know all the facts so I choose not to comment. However, with respect to the issue of physical healing, I have seen the Lord do miracles in my life, my spouse and my friends. When you have doctors say to you "keep praying its working" as they see recovery when none was expected, when you have doctors say "you just never see this condition reverse" but that in your spouse's case it is reversing, you definitely believe healing is for today and not just to convince the early church that Jesus was who He said He was. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. My friends and family have stood on God's healing promises as set forth in the Bible and taught by the Copelands, the Roberts and others and we have seen results. We give God all the praise and glory.

As a graduate from the ORU Seminary... everyone is aware of these issues.
Everyone knows that each semester Richard signs the honor code not to lie, yet he lied and said their debt was reduced.. when in fact it has grown. Richard has defied the honor code and for that alone should receive the same punishment he gives out to students who engage in persistent violations of the code.
Posted by: Joe Miller at November 26, 2007
Oh, and the answer is NO. Richard will not let go or allow the two ministries to be independent. He already tried to force himself back in after his two weeks of "temporary leave" he was ready to come back and "change" the culture he created... LOL

As a Christian I believe in the power of prayer, and that it's possible for God to heal, if it's His will. However, I cannot accept that God listens out for and gives special preference to prayers from Benny Hinn, Richard Roberts, Robert Tilton, Mike Murdoch or any of the other silver-tongued snake-oil peddlers who fill the airwaves with their begging infomercials.
I also believe it's disgraceful that these televangelist shysters willingly take money, often from people who can ill afford it, and spend it on their ultra luxurious lifestyles, under the pretence that we can somehow "plant a seed" and "buy a blessing" from God.
The Bible says that when we pray sincerely God listens to every single one of us. He doesn't need our prayers to be delivered by some bogus celebrity.
And we don't need to finance another private jet for the Crouches or the Copelands in order to be heard.

Oral Roberts Ministries, that's Richard's fiefdom.
This bed rock or bunker base is the tonic that keeps him going despite being wounded.
That bunker will cook up enough justifications in the weeks and months to come. They will pay expert lawyers to help cook matters of "evidence" to see him through the crisis of the hour.
& of course "Time is the healer of all wounds". Once he gets his target Boot / Loot safely tucked away, he can quietly disappear from the media radar screen icognitio and he would not mind it. Its a big country and it offers plenty of space to remain undeterred.
If Oral Roberts Ministries's books can be audited, please look at the Attorney/Consul Fees Account. They will tell the story in all probability.
But that will not happen....I guess.
What remains to be seen is whether Oral Roberts himself will have the guts to set Richard right ?
Well Que Serra Serra.... they will escape the courts of this world thats a sure thing becuase the easy money will come in handy for such a time as this. Sadly they are forgetful of the Great Day and standing before HIM. How much better to come clean now than then. When the weaping and crying will be a cosmic 24/7 for all the entire band wagon & etal.

I think it is High Time that men of God STAND UP and speak the truth in love in response to what the Bible says about proper Christian conduct and how a Man of God should be an example to the Church and the unbeliever.First of all I believe the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God,That Jesus was born of a Virgin,That Jesus died on the cross of Calvary to provide redemption from sin,and that Jesus rose on the 3rd. day.And I also believe that Jesus Christ is THE ONLY WAY in which a man can find Salvation and eternal life and apart from faith in Jesus Christ men will be judged by God who is Holy to an eternity in Hell for their wickedness and sin.I also believe what the Lord said in
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Only those who are Born Again will be saved form God's wrath and eternal torment in hell.
Secondly the Bible clearly states that we are to consider all things by the Word of God so that we know how the Man of God should conduct himself. And the word of God says in 2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
And the word of truth is what we are to use to conduct our lifes. And if one studies God word they will find In 2nd Timothy 3:16-17:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Gods word is profitable for many wonderful things and here in particular 4 Things. 1-For doctrine 2-For reproof 3-For correction 4-For instruction in righteousness
And these 4 Things are provided by God to us for a reason because without sound doctrine, without reproof, without correction and without instruction in rightousness
Then v:17 would not be correct which says:
17: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
So when some suggest that someone is judging by agreeing with what Senator Grassley is bringing out in the open about these Pastors lifestyles. It has been reported in the US press that some of these 6 ministries Pastors under public scrunity that they fly in Cessana Jets, drive Rolls Royces and Bentley Convertables, live in Mansions worth from 2 Million Dollars up to 10 Million Dollars, stay in Presidentalial Suites for a sum of one Thousand Dollars up to Ten Thousand Dollars a night. One of these 6 Pastors when asked on CNN IF THEY BELIEVED JESUS WOULD AGREE TO THEM HAVING A ROLLS ROYCE? HE SAID "YES Jesus would agree"
So when we look at what is taking place with Senator Grassley,s requested inquiry on ministries such as Benny Hinn,Keneth Copeland,Crefflo Dollar Joyce Myers and others and in light of the scandal at Oral Roberts University where as even the President Richard Roberts resigned on Friday after his accountant informed the world that he was instructed to "cook the books" by Richard Roberts himself and the accountant was Fired.
And when you take into account that these 6 ministries teach false teachings that I Quote.."We are all little gods" and that we have the power to create through our words, and the Properity Gospel.Perhaps one is being judgemental if you think that Doctrine Reproof,Correction and Instruction in Rightousness is not an appropiate measure to be guided by not only in these 6 Pastors ministries but in any Christian ministries. And let me ask have you really dug into what The Word of Faith Movement teaches?I suggest that any one reading this finds out and become aware of what these ministries teach. The choice is yours.
It's about time that MEN OF GOD STAND UP and speak the word of truth in love and through Gods Word find Doctrine and Reproof false teachers and bring Correction so that people are not mislead and bring Instruction in righteousness so that people wiil be aware of what is happening.
I am an ordained Pentecostal minister in Regent Park -St. Jamestown Toronto. And I have a duty as a watchman of the church God has called me to lead. Here are some scriptures to that warn us of the very things we are talking about.
2nd.Peter 2:1-3 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2: And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3: And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
1 Timothy 4:1: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1rst Timothy 6:3-11 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4: He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5: Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6: But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7: For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8: And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9: But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11: But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
1rst Peter 5:2: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3: Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

It was interesting to note a comment on Mike Murdoch.
You should have witnessed him in action at the Benny Hinn Crusade in San Jose, CA at the HP Pavilion on Day 2 (morning session) of the Jamboree in early October 2007
"Hold your bible, now cradle it in your arms like you would cradle a baby, rock your Bible, Kiss your Bible, Pet your Bible, Hug your Bible, say love words to your Bible....."
Almost all of the HP Pavilion crowd of i.e. the ignorant crowd followed his directions as Hinn ws urging and doing the same thing.
It was all so putrid I had to leave in sheer disgust. I wept that day and cried out to God: How Long Lord !
Please think: Had the Apostle Paul kept silent much through his life, there would not have been a New Testament.
We who sincerely love and worship the Lord Jesus are called to be Samuels, Nathaniels, Paul and the like minded folks in this day and age. BECAUSE we are still living and breathing.
The Evangelical church needs to wake up and come down against false doctrines. We are grieving the Holy Spirit by our being silent spectators to the whims and fancies of a few in the Chrisitan Church.
Paul was vocal about such matters. What happened that we who believe prefer to remain choked and miffed and silent ?
Our common enemy the Devil is a tooth less tiger, but he is a veteran at neutralizing true believers. Let us NOT allow him to keep us "BOXED IN" PLEASE! We are playing into his game plan.
It is not about God not delivering from sickness. God hears and answers prayers. I myself was delivered from Brain Tumor almost three years back and I do believe in a miracle working God.
Thanks for reading my thoughts folks....

When the Christians will learn the lessons that T.V. Ministers are all not really as they are portrayed! They are all humans with
shortcomings and weakness. Seed-faith life is good but find some
ground near everybody's neighbourhood, see the proper ground before planting the seed so that we need not have to regret later on.

Do you know how gross people think you are? In Europe they think you are white trash and ignorant scum for falling for stuff like this.
They think you live in fear and would rather give your money to a church and allow your old mother to give up all her savings while you watch her suffer.
Some think that you might be mentally off. I just think you are all mean spririted.
How can you look at yourself in the morning knowing the destruction of this earth that you have caused.

These kinds of alleged misdeeds reflect poorly on the entire Christian community. Christian pastors and leaders should examine themselves before God and their followers to be sure their witness is true to the Gospel and emulates a self-giving rather than a self-serving lifestyle.
As for ORU, they should clean house, receiving the resignations of all Board members, and then hire a respected and experienced Christian woman, not associated with the Roberts family, as the next ORU president.

I just wanted to comment on the actual text above. I wasn't aware that "clearer" was a word. I was taught "more clear" was correct. (like "fun" becomes "more fun" not "funner")
Paul has a lot to say about preachers misusing ministry to get rich. "for profit" ministry has been around since his day,and I find a certain degree of comfort in that- it's not just dumb 20th c. Christians, and God will deal with them in His own way. Also, not all preachers on tv preach heresies, though I would consider their lifestyles to be a fair evaluation, but again, what concern of ours is their Sin? Aren't we supposed to confront erring brothers directly? (matt 18?)
Posted by: kai at November 26, 2007
I believe God propers his people, but even God can't help you if you don't use wisdom in how you spend the money God helps you to earn.
One of these ministries, Kenneth Copeland sent my husband and me over $100 of mini books to give to prisoners when I wrote a letter to them and casually mentioned we were in prison ministry. I hadn't asked for anything but they sowed into our ministry.
It would be very hard for these ministries to minster overseas on a regular basis with all their crew, supplies, staff, standing in lines at public airports, with delays, and the exhaustion of traveling under those conditions. It would hard to arrive fresh and rested under those conditions. It is much easier to minister when one is rested than when tired.
But it does make me scringe when I read of Benny Hinn staying in hotel rooms that cost $4000 a night in luxury suites with private pools in the suite. This was a lay over from a ministry trip that was charged to the ministry.
It seems we have come from a proverty mentality, which is not Scriptural, to a prosperity mentality that has gotten out of balance. Scripture does say that if you take care of a little He will give you more and if you don't use what you have properly, it will be taken from you. So this would apply to money as well as the gifts God has given you, or to the the hearing of the Word.
So if Richard is not using his position properly and is not using money correctly his position is being taken from him, as it should be.
I remember when Richard and Patty, his first wife got their divorce. I heard Oral say on radio that Patty was called to go to Africa as a missionary. When I told my husband he said, "No she is called to be the wife to her husband and the mother to her children, not go off alone to Africa." Oral was able to get this divorce through in three weeks which was the quickest divorce in Oklahoma. So they were not very open about what had happened.
We need a balanced message, not of poverty, but not of prosperity with no restraints and no accountability.

Aren't you all rushing to judgment as far as Richard Roberts is concerned? Nothing has been proven yet. Has it?
It's also very, very unfair to put a bad mouth on all who will believe that God wants to heal and prosper His people. It may be true that some Evangelists or Pastors or Teachers can not handle being so blessed, but that's just because they are "human" and all humans have their weaknesses. That does not make the word of God void.

Mike Grady's right, but he hasn't gone far enough.
The pail ought to be carried by Billy Graham, who inducted Oral Roberts into the evangelical fold back in the 1960s at the founding of ORU and then at the 1967 evangelism conference in Berlin, together with theologian H.A. Ockenga.
That compromise may have brought in a bigger crowd, many from Latin America and the fringes of Christianity. Pentecostalism, being the precursor of the circus represented today by ORU's Board of Regents--you know, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, the Robertses, ICBM keynotes, and all--had its roots in white supremacist pastor Charles Parham, "Chinese" tongues speaking/writing Agnes Ozman, and Azusa St. holy roller Charles Seymour.
If not for Billy Graham's endorsement, this scam and cancer would not have afflicted the heart of Reformational Christianity, both in the U.S. and across the world. America's pastor has a lot to repent of, and perhaps there will still be occasion for him to undo some of the damage in terms of compromise--with regard to the gospel's exclusivity, admiration of Rome, cobelligerence with Liberals, and indeed endorsement of the false Pentecost.
Something substantial to pray about this Wednesday night!
Posted by: J Ng at November 26, 2007
Actually, what Oral Roberts is famous for teaching is not only false, it is the opposite of the truth! Yes, he would say, "I am not your source, God is your source. If you are hungry, send me an offering and God will feed you. If you needs clothes, send me an offering and God will clothe you." The Bible says, if you see someone who needs clothes and you have extra, YOU give to that person. You don't pray that God will give them clothes. Oral was and is wealthy, so he should have been giving to the poor rather than taking money from them. THAT IS THE OPPOSITE OF THE TRUTH!

I don't condone sin. All I am saying is that you need to be very careful on how we judge.
I read the above comments and my insides scringed with all the hate that came from them. You sound very prideful in your judgment. I really don't see God getting glory from such hatred. Those who judge harshly will also be judged accordingly. Believe me I know.
If I remember, only a couple of the comments were mercyful.
Seek God's Word and follow the process.
John 8:7 Cast the first stone.
Matthew 18:15-17 The Church not the World.
James 4:11-12 God is in control not us.
Judgment does begin in the house of the Lord. Let everyone examine his own self with trembeling and fear. Take the 2X4 out of one's own eyes before taking the splinter out of another's.
God is the judge and He alone gets the glory. Amen
In love,

dear brothers and sisters,
We all fail, We all are sinners saved by God's grace. We all need Jesus and the Holy Spirit everyday.
Let us pray for our leaders that they may have God's wisdom.
If he has done wrong , we need to restore him gently. Galatiana 6:1-5.
When we see our brother or sister doing wrong let us do what Jesus said in Matthew 18:15-17.
Should we go to court? Paul said we should not have lawsuits among believers.1 Corinthians 6:1-11.
What for a witness we are when we put our brother or sister down.
Lord have mercy on us.
God bless you richly

Dear Friends,
The subject matter of Financial Accountability in our Churches & Christian Institutions is a topic very close to my heart.
Of late the news is flooded with the intransigence of many a Pentecostal Ministry across the US.
Prominently those of Benny Hinn, Oral Roberts Univ., Kenneth Copeland and many other such Gospel Peddlers.
We should be ashamed of these Pastors & their "successful ministries".
BTW, there are many faithful Christian Organizations and one sterling example among many others is :
http://www.billygraham.org/Development_AnnualReports.asp
See how Billy Graham's Association expresses their financial accountability to the people at large, demonstrating their efforts at integrity.
This should be the gold standard that these others who have brought shame should follow too.
Similarly see the link below:
http://www.ecfa.org/CharterMembers.aspx
If you note, no Benny Hinn, Murdoch, John Hagee, Bynum, Parsley & such folks ever dare to show up on these sites. Cause they run "business corporations" and it calls for being transparent and accountable to show up on the above sites. Which they never intended to be any way.
We who love the Lord should not allow our selves to sit quietly and ignore such errant pastors or even support their ministries. In doing so we provide the fuel to their insatiable desires. They thrive upon your and my ignorance and our guilt ridden minds, if that be so.
Just think: Had the Apostle Paul kept silent in the midst of false doctrines would there be a New Testament ? There were many false doctrines then!
No difference today. We are called to be Samuel's and Nathaniel's, Jeremiahs and Isaiah's and Paul in today's world and be firm in our position about such false teachers such as Mike Murdoch, Kim Clement, Juanita Bynum and the like. All they want is for you to help them buy another big house, Jet or Boat. They will not say directly but that is their coveted desire.
Yes, it may not be popular to come out boldly to share such matters, but it is important that we redeem the times and be conscious how we give our tithes and offerings and whether the leaders of our churches have the guts to publish their Annual Audited Reports on their web sites.
If even one of the many churches that we in the USA faithfully attend is serious and makes efforts to publish their audited annual reports on their web sites, a great victory would have been won for the Lord! Pray that our respective church leaders move in this direction.
BTW many of them are well meaning and nice Pastors & Leaders and some of them do not know about Financial Accountability Standards.
This is also because some of these people have not been to good Bible Colleges and are self appointed Leaders not any different from the former Saddam (Iraqi Leader) seizing power. Thereafter any things is possible. Example Ted Haggard.
Encourage the leaders of your churches to be Financially Accountable. That is the only way we can do our bit to bring about a sense of propriety to matters of Faith in our local churches.
Some of you may think: "what is this man's problem, see he has so much hatred in him, etc, etc....does not he have any thing better to do ? Does he not have a job or other things to keep him busy"? Quiet the contrary I do but I care and feel about this and other matters in the church, friends and hence this comment & email :-)
PLEASE PLEASE note that every time a genuine Christian keeps silent thinking "let others take care of matters why bother, I have my career and family to take care of. My duty is to write the check the rest God better handle" WRONG! Let me say this: You are making it that much more difficult for you to be an effective witness for HIM as days and months and years pass us.
You were silent before, what's different about now ? That is exactly where the Devil wants you to be. BOXED IN! See how he tricks you to keep silent and be "boxed in" continuously.......watch: he is a tooth less tiger but he is a master mind at deceiving and neutralizing you and me.
When Christians voice their concerns they are NOT FILLED WITH HATRED. It is your inalienable right to speak up against atrocities. Don't lose it by being timid.
Its serious folks. It is imperative that you speak up in your own small way in your circle of influence It is not a denominational matter either. This is rampant corruption and even Christ made a whip and expressed HIS disgust at these practices during HIS physical days on planet earth.
The above are just thoughts that I wanted to share with the Christian Community at large across the world.
The ultimate sufferer of your and my complacency is not you or me but the LORD JESUS CHRIST and the HOLY SPIRIT. Let us not grieve them because we like being complacent, despite the fact that it is HE who has brought each one of us into a place of Significance from insignificance & utter darkness. Speaking up should never be construed as hatred towards Roberts and the like.
Thanks Guys for sparing time to read.
PS: some of you may be ardent followers of such Pastors and their ministries. I confess, I too was at one point in time. I do not mean to hurt your feelings or rub you the wrong way. Should that be the case, I do apologize. My intent through this email & opportunity to comment is to share some facts and help you redeem the times and not to be hurtful. I admit this email does contain strong language and I prayed and waited and hesitated if I should even bother to share such matters. It is the love for GOD's word that urges me to do so.
Once again I am not a conscience keeper for any one. We are all individually accountable to God.
However we need to know if there is ethics in secular education then Christian Institutions and Pastors who derive ecclesiastical authority are accountable to higher standards, across christian denominations. I believe that is why David Neff, Editor of Christianity Today shared the news about Roberts & ORU with all of us who have willingly participated in these blogs.
It was nice to read all the sharing. For me it is Time to withdraw and be quiet.

Why do we put our faith in man? The power of prayer works because of Jesus, not man's assumed infallibility. Many of those who posted above think the ORU problems occurred because of the Roberts' beliefs. Healing by the power of Jesus is real.
A few years ago Richard Roberts prayed for my son who had asthma. My son was healed and 6 years later has no signs of asthma. My son was requiring multiple daily breathing treatments. I know Richard did not heal him, but it is because of people like him the public can see healing is real.

Those scandals should surprise no one. Wait until I start publishing the inner workings of another religious organization, Feed The Children of Oklahoma. I am now ready to reveal very confidential information about the true activities of its president, Pastor Larry Jones. As his Program Director in Haiti for twelve years, I can tell you that very litle of the 800 millions raised every year from the too thrusting public really goes to humanitarian asistance.Just wait!

Jean, I posted this on a previous blog re:ORU. Good luck with your book! I spent 4 years at FTC and you are speaking truthfully and are not afraid. Dateline NBC has shown interest in the past but no one would go on camera.
It's not all about money. Look at Larry Jones-Feed the Children closely. He and his family ride a crest of power. Look at gift in kind versus cash income. Virtually all cash is spent on overhead like TV. He sends 100 truckloads of useless paperback books that have been removed from store shelves to garbage dumps in poor areas and shows each truckload to be valued as $300,000 worth of "children educational" items. He raises $700,000 net per TV show when "spotlighting" his orphanage in Africa for 30 sick children but only sends them $30,000 cash per year. The secret is Gift in Kind and most of it is just junk. No one can stop him as everyone fears him.

Kai, what makes you think these imposters are brothers and sisters in Christ. Christians really need to study the Bible. We are warned throughout the Bible about false teacher, false prophets, and the like.
Jesus said His sheep know His voice and a stranger’s voice they will not follow. Listen to what Jesus said in Math 15:13-14: "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.
There are many scriptures warning God's children of these people, but we have to read it for ourselves, because they will never teach these scriptures. These scriptures expose them to be sheep in wolves’ clothing.
Read the following scriptures to gain an understanding about these "experts in greed.": Jer 23 (the entire chapter), Eze 13 (the entire chapter), Mal 2:1-9, Ro 16:17-19, 2 Co 11:1-15, Gal 1:6-9, Eph 5:1-17, Phil 3:17-20, Col 1:24-Col 2:5, 2 Thes 2; 1 Ti 6:3-10, 2 Ti 3, 2 Tim 4:1-4, 2 Pe 2, and Jude. There are many more I could mention, but this is enough for you to understand that these people are enemies of the gospel. The prosperity gospel is a lie and clearly contradicts multiple scriptures in the Bible.
Please, study the word of the living God! Act 17:11 says, "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." We have to study the entire Bible for ourselves and stop ignoring the Holy Spirit when He reveals God's truth to us. Let God be true and every man a liar (Ro 3:4)! As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in Him (1 Jo 2:27).
God bless those who know the truth, because the truth will make them free. And what is truth? God's word is truth.

Matthew 7.21 - 23 seems to be the Lord Jesus' opinion about those who are false teachers and practitioners. Just too bad that the HE has to have HIS reputation dirtied before the world.

Most prominent in my heart over the charges and allegations against some of these ministers and ministries is deep grief. It isn't because I was a particular admirer of some of those currently in the spotlight. It is because I am a sinner saved by grace and, after following Jesus for many years, continue to struggle against temptations in various forms. I believe that it is only God's grace, mercy and the power He provides in the battle against sin and self that keeps any Christian from falling. One can only imagine how incredibly powerful the temptations associated with fame, money, power and influence might be. This is not by way of excusing anyone. It is simply a reminder that, but for the grace of God, any Believer might be equally vulnerable to the temptations these particular positions bring.
I take no pleasure in learning about the possible misbehavior or lack of ethics and/or morality of popular leaders of this day. I am sorrowful to learn of the various charges and wish with all my heart that the allegations prove to be untrue. I am disappointed, not only by the alleged actions of those charged, but by the response of fellow Christians to those now being called to account. Many of the comments I've read indicate that some believers are downright gleeful and are actually taking great pleasure in the downfall of fellow believers.
I grieve that Christians (especially those in prominent positions) fail. I grieve that the actions of a few damage the credibility of many. But more than all that, I grieve over the lack of compassion for those whom Satan has worked so diligently to bring down. We may be able to identify the sins of others (usually more quickly than our own), but only God is in a position to judge whether those who have fallen can be salvaged and brought back into the kingdom. We should always pray that not only will we be kept from falling, but that those who may have fallen will be restored.

Curtis & others,
Thanks for sharing the scripture verses relevant to the subject matter, that we are all commonly interested in.
Before I explain why I feel the way I do, largely expressed through various comments on this blog and the one dated
http://blog.christianitytoday.com/ctliveblog/archives/2007/11/oru_president_r.html
I will state that I am neither a Minister nor a Bible Scholar.
I have always been in Secular Employment i.e. a Market Place Christian. In the market place impropriety is not tolerated for long and left unattended. Some of my comments do allure to that fact.
Reading patiently will help assimilate those facts.
All said and done, I do not hate or enjoy with glee the public situations that Roberts, Paula, Juanita, Hinn, Murdoch & Copeland and others find them selves in.
The Salvation of Jesus Christ (until the days of Grace are complete) i.e. this age is to the UTTERMOST!
That’s what the Bible says.
Which means ALL current sinners and future sinners no matter how big or small the sin (believer Christians included).
This is why I grieve for such people. I will never stand in judgment or condemn them, because sin is inevitable in this life.
Proof: The Publican (who cried out in prayer and declared that he was a sinner), the thief on the cross....
It is the Bible that helps us to melt and accept one and all.
I am not a Modern day Pharisee. I hope the above comments help in some way.
Thanks all,
Koshy

You people make me sick,Satan didnt bring down anybody, they brought themselves down. These blab it and grab it preachers have been abusing Gods people for centuries and we do nothing about it. I dont have a problem with a prosperous life, but conning people with fake allegations of God spoke to me , I dont know who is worse the false teacher who say such a thing or the blind who follow. Wake up people the time is now.Real Godly people better start standing up for the truth, or it will be too late like a frog in a slowly rising pot you dont know the waters to hot until its too late.

Now matter what has gone on we must not put our mouth on Gods people but allow God to deal with them . For the word of God says to be sure of this one thing that your sin will find you out . And if we as people of God pray God will shoe us how all that money came up missing and God is going to pour out his judgement upon them . And I TELL YOU THAT THE TRUE PROPHET HAS SPOKEN THAT AMERICA AND THESE HYPOCRITING TV EVANGELIST SHALL SEE THE WRATH OF GOD . AND IT SHAll not be many moths or days . But know that the TRUE PROPHET OF GOD HAS SPOKEN and thats thus said the LORD. Be Bless America and continue to stand on the word of God Preaching HOLINESS OR HELL
