Tells "700 Club" that former ORU professors' lawsuit is because "there are people in this world who are against ministries.”
"We’re going to go on with the call of God on our lives," former Oral Roberts University president Richard Roberts told The 700 Club today. "God will deal with people and false accusations. All I can say is that it’s not true, and leave it at that. God is the ultimate judge.”
Roberts said he will remain a "spiritual regent" to the university and CEO of the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association as he returns to a full-time healing ministry.
“The healing ministry has always been my first love,” he said. “I am immersing myself fully back into the healing ministry, which was what I was doing before I became president of ORU.”

We ask that the Muslims who claim to dislike the terrorist tactics take a public stand and proclaim either their support for America or their abhorance of the terrorist campaigns. Why don't we ask that the Assemblies of God make a public outcry against these kinds of delusional leaders. Peter Popoff and now Richard Roberts back in the "sow your seed for your miracle" offering business. When will their overseers stand up and disassociate themselves from these broken people?

As an ORU alumni, I can't say this guy has any remaining credibility. The Bible said we should know what people are by their fruits, and all the fruits coming from Mr. Roberts seem to be rotten. His lack of financial transparency one of the black eyes in Christianity. Our ministers should avoid the appearance of evil, be beyond reproach, and lead with integrity. Yes, God is our judge, and yes, he has a right to go back in full-time minstry, but I also have the right to speak my opinion with my wallet. I will continue to pray for Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, and that God will speak the Truth in love.

The state of the christian church in American is so sad. The games these people play with God's people, plan and money is discouraging to so many. Not to mention the people that we are trying to win to Christ. Surely, the "Ultimate Judge" will weigh the matter, some day. At that time, they won't be able to put the "spin" on Almighty God! God is one that they will not be able to charismatically or politically persuade to their side. Their subtle and hidden "ways" of doing things will be exposed. They fail to realize that God is keeping a record! They have been seduced by the world system and the lifestyle that it offers. You all have let the kingdom down!

I have watched Richard Roberts ever since he and his first wife were the darlings of Oral's 70's tv show. What a frightening transformation from a talented young man to a...whatever.

I whole-heartedly agree with the first poster. Though I am not part of the AOG denomination, as a member of the Church, Roberts’ actions have certainly been unChristlike. May those in the ORU family who are pursuing God’s will be given grace in the meantime.

Christ came for all people and suffered for the same. He told/tells us to love God and our neighbor. Isn't our neighbor anyone, regardless of proximity? Didn't He preach salvation to the masses, Jews, Samaritans and Gentiles alike? Who are we to assault another nation or people group for any reason? Who are we to call for the extermination of any individual or body? We are called to suffer for others. We are called to preach the gospel of salvation. How dare we allow ourselves to be herded under the headship of any physical union, i.e nation. When was the US "one nation under God?" Was it when we savagely murdered the "Indians" or when we pillaged the land in the name of capitalism? Was it when we bought and forced other peoples to come here and work the land for us, i.e. slavery? Or, was it when we sat by idle while persons of non-white skin color were ruthlessly and wrongfully persecuted--has this ended? Are we now united under God as we continue to 'authoritatively' victimize other nations as we legitimize our actions as being "Godly" while we decisively criticize the religion and murder peoples of said nations? As a Christian i am saddened and angered as "our" nation continues to blaspheme God and misrepresent Christ. This nation is one nation, under the gods of lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. The true nation under God is not of this world, but of the Kingdom of God Almighty.

I hope that the sick and suffering are not being treated as an easy option by someone seeking a way out from accountability. They deserve so much better than that - and how can anyone presume to have 'success' in the healing ministry when their integrity is in question. 'Physician, heal thyself'.

As a student of ORU, I just want to mention that the brookers and swails are not against ministry! They are against injustice! They are not the enemy, somebody else is. I believe that everything that has happened thus far is part of God's plan...including Richard Roberts returning to full time ministry. He always said that he would rather be doing that, and that running the university was a burden on him. He got what he wanted! Stop blaming the former professors!

Therefore, the Assemblies of Godis not responsible for overseeing them. They are also not affiliated in any way with the General Council of the Assemblies of God.

(current student at ORU) I dont understand all the things that richard roberts has said and why he is still saying what he is... but i am so blessed and proud to be a part of what God is going at oral roberts university. the students are amazing and their heart for God is genuine and passionate. I applaud our leaders and faculty for standing up for us and fighting for our well being. I am so thankful to be in this place and under the annointing that we are blessed to be under. Not all of what you see is an accurate representation of our school and our hearts.
I know some things dont make sense but not all of what Richard Roberts is is rotten fruit. We loved him. I cannot speak for every student but i can speak for myself. God bless him. Even if he did make a mistake. And God cast us as a nation not away from your presence, because its true; as a nation we have fallen into worship of greed, lust, selfishness, pride and a vast amount of other things.
God have mercy on us all for it is by grace we are saved, not by what we do. No one can justify himself, save the blood of Christ on the cross.
Love. Grace. We dont ever know people's true hearts. I just ask that you would be gently reminded that we are all in need of healing and forgiveness. Thats not an excuse... simply a pleading for mercy. And that in time God would reveal the truth and heal what has been harmed through all of this. His spirit is already moving in a new amazing way...

I am a 1992 graduate of Oral Roberts University and I am glad that things are changing. I received a good education and met many wonderful people there, but I live with the stigma of being associated with Oral Roberts . . . and I will not send my children there. The school is so much more than Oral and Richard Roberts. I am glad to see that the board of regents is committed to keeping the Christian mission of the school, but I wish they would take it one step further - change the name. Continue to honor the founder, but change the name and focus on making it a premiere learning institution that is raising up Christian leaders who have a biblical worldview.

do exceedingly, above and beyond that which we can ever ask or think. Eph 3:20
My husband became unable to Pastor our church after a near death accident and I have been put in that

I read a ton of comments about the AG disassociating with Mr. Roberts, or the church as a whole turning their back on him. Let me get this straight, Jesus turned His back on Peter after Peter screwed up? Jesus also just condemned Saul of Tarsus because he was trying to kill Christians? WAIT! No Jesus did not turn His back on Peter nor did He condemn Saul a.k.a. Paul. Do you guys really see what you are saying? Mr. Roberts has a ministry "calling" whether you like it or not. If you do not like him, don't listen to his preachings, don't go to his meetings, don't give him any money. God will supply. If you people were more "Christ-like" you would not be getting on a website just so you can run a fellow brother in Christ through the mud. Remember this: the news media is "secular", secular is part of the "world" and Christ Himself said the world would persecute us as believers. It amazes me that so-called Christians would rather believe a secular (almost anti-christianity) news media rather than believe a fellow Christian. I am a minister and I pray I do not lead people into some of the thinking that I've read on here. (((walks away holding head down in shame for the people who slammed Mr. Roberts)))

These ministers of the gospel may never realize that by their
irresponsible attitude which may lead to terrible actions, will
tarnish the image of honest Christians and Christian leaders.
The love for money and all the pampering associated with it will
lead to ultimate crash landing. Many have landed likewise, but
those who are standing firm must watch their steps and eyes before
they themselves crash in the same ditch. How, our Lord will
lament looking to these so called prophets of prosperity and
miracles: without having any spirit of humility in them. God's
judgment will start in the Church.

Tonight, Richard Roberts is live on WGGS TV 16, Greenville, S.C. They are a local S.C. family owned and operated Christian TV station. Richard Roberts came on and thinked TV 16 for carrying his TV program for the last 30 years. He then said that God had given him a message at his Greenville Motel room. He pulled ou a small piece of paper that said "sow in quality soil". He toldhim that god told him that 5 people must send $5,000 each to TV 16 togight. 15 people must send $1,000 tonight. 100 people must send $100 a piece tonight. This comes to $50,000. He said that God did the math for him, as he isn`t good with math. He also kept saying things like" a man is laying in bed with pain in his right side. God wants you to call into TV16 tonight and pledge $1,000". He said that if the man does not call in tonight and send the money, he won`t be healed. Richard Roberts has been live on TV 16 for the past 3 hours. He keeps saying the same things over and over again. He repeats himself often. He also says that he will give $5,000 (over time) to TV 16. He has no job. He is given away minstry money that donors gve to be used in the Oral Roberts ministry. Is it legal for him to give this money away? I guess that he pends the ministry money for Hotel Rooms, airline tickets, etc....... He is accountable to nobody and is very arrogant. Why does he think that God wants us to PAY for miralces? The bible doesn`t preach this. Why is Richard Roberts not in jail tonight? He is so slick and using poor and sick people for his own needs.
Posted by: Ernest Angley IV at May 6, 2008
Yes, Jesus forgave Peter. But Peter also repented. He felt great remorse for what he did. Mr. Roberts shows no remorse at all. In fact, he denies every single charge that has been made against him - in spite of all the evidence against him. I guess it's the "name it and claim" it theology; if he says he didn't do anything wrong enough times, it will eventually be true.
"This nation is one nation, under the gods of lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride."
And it is the teachings of "ministers" like Mr. Roberts and others that have made this country this way.
" "Touch not mine anointed" (I say no more)"
That is the most convenient verse in the Bible for ministers. And who says Richard Roberts IS God's annointed?
Paul also said that anyone teaching a false doctrine should be expelled from the church.

I have a vision and it is revealed to me that Oral and Richard Roberts are con-people. Robbing from the poor and using the ministry money for their own personal pleasures and enjoyment. Some day they will meet the King face to face and he will showl them the gates of Hell.

I was a student at ORU in 1996 and saw a tremendous amount of hypocrisy, or so I thought. A good friend of mine was a professor there and was in financial distress and seeking God for a miracle and I was standing with him. He told me how much his salary was and it shocked me. I could not believe that a university with this much money could be so cheap. Several days later I saw Lindsey Roberts drive past me in a brand new fifty thousand dollar SUV. I was disgusted and it made me sick. Shortly after this I withdrew from ORU. I understand that as followers of Christ we must sometimes endure suffering but I never saw Richard or Lindsey suffer for Him. I don't know if he even knows the meaning of the word.(1: to endure death, pain, or distress, 2: to sustain loss or damage) All this being said, I ask God to forgive me if I am holding any unforgiveness for them or if I judged them in any way. God is the ultimate judge and we need to let Him do His part. I let there actions draw me away from God for a time and for that I am truly sorry. Everyone will get what is coming to them on judgement day. Richard and Lindsey Roberts I hope that God will bring my post across your path to read and that you are able to forgive me.

I thank God that the handful of individuals the public sees daily on television aren't representative of the thousands of dedicated, and loving pastors across America.
It sickens me to see a "pastor" such as Mr. Roberts flaunting his wealth he ultimately received from viewers who put too much of their trust and resources in him, instead of the Lord. Even more galling is hearing Roberts, and others like him spewing garbage they insist is biblical that essentially says, "if you're not wealthy like me, you must not have enough faith". The bible says nothing like that, just the opposite in fact.
Richard Roberts and his ilk are nothing more than hucksters, PREYING on many in the television audiance who are vulnerable and in need of God's love and grace. Unfortunately, what they get is an hour long sales pitch, pressuring the viewer to rush to his or her phone, whip out the credit card, give more than they can probably afford, then sit and wait for the promised blessings from God to flow in.
For too many viewers, the only thing they receive is the bill. Richard Roberts might have been the first person they turned to but he was the last thing they needed.

The bible says that love covers a multitude of sins. I know how the world works...let's tear them down because of the evidence that we see...however, I just choose to believe that there may be things that we don't know about or maybe people just take things out of context...or just maybe the wolves have the information twisted. Did you ever think that there is an enemy out there just waiting to devour Richard and Lindsay Roberts and even ORU? The enemy would like nothing better than to bring ORU down. Even if Richard and Lindsay did make mistakes, a true christian should NEVER come against them. A true christian will pray for them...the bible says to pray one for another so that you may be healed. We are all one body...let's not rip ourselves apart. Have mercy and you will receive mercy. Love your neighbor as YOURSELF...GOD, have mercy on us all.
Posted by: Jamie at May 29, 2008
No. There is nothing to take out of context.
Yes, love does cover a multitude of sins, BUT the NT is very plain. We are to practice church discipline. We are to test what is of God and what is not in light of scripture. We are to discern. Some of these ministry leaders are control freaks. Some of them exhibit this trait as Steve Jobs and other super successful business men and visionaries do. Some of them do it to hide things. I think that you have your answer with Richard. Any person that demonizes, rebukes, terminates a brother or sister in Christ, for merely trying to get the facts so that they can discern the truth...I'd say that they are hiding something.
I worked for a guy like this in a church. God did not ordain ministries of a man, working under one man's name. God ordained the church. God ordained that the church provide ministries. The people providing ministry in the church have a list of criteria. There is a process of training and discipline.
The problem with this professional Christian ministry stuff is that there is no overseer. There is no accountability. This forces the government to to make decisions where it really should not be. This is taking the church as a whole down the toilet.
BTW, when it comes to money. I know several people in the broadcast department and ORU Maybee center that can attest to the organizations poor trade credit. I was lucky enough to have friends that made sure that I was paid for services rendered. But others were not so lucky.

Posted by: tommy salami at June 13, 2008
Look. If this Word of Faith crap really worked, you would think that the preachers of it would be giving US the money. THEY would be planting the seed, and reaping for the ongoing ministry. But it doesn't work like that. God is not in the banking business. There is no mention in scripture that WE will get it back now, or in the same fashion.
Right now, most of the Word of Faith preachers are being called before congressional committees, being scoped by the IRS, because they are living high on the hog in extravegance. It would seem that the Word of Faith movement is like Amway. It works for someone. The people at the top selling the merch and receiving the offerings.
The crowds in the Word of Faith movement are aging and dwindling. There are many people fighting for the top positions. It is a very political thing. Sad really.

Jesus said you would know my desciples by the way they love each other. What kind of example are we setting as mature christians going after evryone that falls or has be accused of something. God has used this family mightly and they have come thru great persecution. One word for the ones that have persecuted, do not judge unless you have been in that persons shoes. You have no idea what he and his family face every day. We need to pray for him and his family.

It's amazing how "Children of God" bash and stomp each other. The Holy Bible clearly states "judge not". Judgement remains in the hands of God, and God only. Family of God, let's now tear down each other. Would you be so harsh and cold on your natural blood family?
Oral has been a blessing to the Body of Christ.. An humble man of God, and my prayer is that the family of God would hold him up in prayer. I love Oral, Richard and Lindsey. I know what it is like to be held under a micro-microscope, and Richard I am sooooo very glad to read that you are going back to what God has called you to do. Praise God and may God continue to hold you, Lindsey, your children and Bro Oral up. Our spirits are perfect -- complete in Christ.
Go forth Bro Oral, go forth ORU, go forth Richard & Lindsey in what God has called you to do.
Family of God, please, please, we are light and children of Light. Let's exhabit light and darkness.
To those who are obeying God to te absolute best of your ability, Be Blessed.

If Richard were to have opened his books and been completely transparent, we would not have this conversation would we?

Pastor Carney, yes. HOWEVER, one thing caught my attention. Richard Roberts and his friends say, Praise God, now he is back in the healing ministry since this is ALWAYS what he wanted to do. So, why on earth was he EVER Prez of ORU? THis only displays that he story changes with the Roberts' depending on what information comes to light. I have to agree that most of these stories need never be IF the servants of God in positions of authority would ONLY BE transparent about their finances! However, they choose not to be.

I haven't seen Richard Roberts for ages. But I remember I thought he was really failing his father when Oral claimed God was going to take him home if he didn't get the money he needed. It was Oral's mental depression talking, and Number One Son should have told daddy so, and refused to air the show.
Back in the 50's, Oral was a true man of God. But a fortune telling occultist named Jeanne Dixon got hold of him and screwed up his brain. You see the results of
thinking you are just fine but following deceiving spirits.
Posted by: rose at July 27, 2008
I don't think that anyone can say that any person is or is not a man of God. Our own hearts can deceive us. But we do have indicators do we not? The fruit bears witness.
If you read Richard's ex-wife's book, you will see how much of a man of God Oral was, cheating and manipulating people out of money. He used to put up strings across the tents and say that God would not start the healings until the string was completely full of bills clipped to it. Come on. There is no worldly tactic that can biblically be used to benefit the Kingdom. Jesus and the Apostles are the ruler. God does not call people to manipulate others into faith, pay their way into faith, etc.

We we all be judged and held accountable for what we have done. Richard did not do anything personally towards you so why is everyone gossiping about him and his family. I have sat and talked to this man during lunch in the cafeteria at ORU and I have sat under him while he was a professor at ORU. He is definitely an anointed man of God...yeah, he may have messed up but you know what...SO HAVE YOU!!! We should pray for our brothers in Christ not continue to gossip of how they messed up...Put yourself in his kids shoes...would you want someone talking about your Dad like that!!! Think that through...I think the best thing for the body of Christ is to continue to pray for restoration and also continue to pray for ORU.

Father, I pray that Michael's love would abound more and more in knowledge and in all judgement, that he would be able to approve all things that are excellent, that he would be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ and that he would be filled with the fruits of righteousness by Christ Jesus. Father, cause him to be counted worthy of this calling and fulfill all the good pleasure of Your goodness in him and the work of faith with power that the name of the Lord Jesus Christ might be glorified in him and he in You. Impart to him the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You that the eyes of his understanding might be enlightened that he might know what is the hope of Your calling, what the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints is, and what the exceeding greatness of Your power is toward us who believe according to the working of Your mighty power which You wrought in Christ when You raised Him from the dead. Now let Michael feel your love, your touch, and your glory right now, in Jesus's Name! Amen

I thank God for the good samaritan who came at the right time to
rescue the ORU. I am not trying to be deliberately critical of
the prosperity preachers, but some of them were sitting in the
ORU board, but never felt any passion and burden for that
institution which was sinking deeper into trouble every day for
the last few years. Now, everybody can read the mind of the
prosperity gospel prophets" I don't care as long as I am getting
rich, so send me your seed faith to my address". God spoke to me
that there are 5000 people who will send me $ 1000.00 each as a seed
gift because I need to put down payment for another jet plane".

These people have helped so many others.
They are a blessing to many.
I choose to look at the full glass.
I choose to look at their light in the world.
Jesus said he who is among you who is without sin should cast the first stone. God Bless the Roberts family for all they have done.

Please continue to pray for Richard and Lindsay Roberts. I know its Gods will they have a future and a hope.Don't believe the bad reports about them. The devil always uses a little truth and a whole lot of lies. So lets act like the body of Christ and embrace and love them. They are so precious to the Lord. They should be precious to us.
