Report: Born Again Voters No Longer Favor Republicans
I'm camped out in front of the television with a case of Diet Pepsi and a Costco-sized bag of trail mix. With only 1% of the precincts reporting, Fox is calling Georgia for Obama, of course. While we wait for more results, you might read this announcement from the Barna Group:
If the election were held today, most born again voters would select the Democratic Party nominee for president, whoever that might be.
Barna's survey has two other angles that might be interesting for readers here.
More than one quarter of respondents contend that Mormons aren't Christian (57% of Evangelical Christians said the same).
Barna also evaluated voters who describe themselves as "deeply spiritual" and "concerned about the moral condition of the United States." That segment represents 35% of the electorate:
This group proved to be somewhat more conservative in its political views (42% are "mostly conservative") and slightly more inclined than the national population to be registered as Republican (35% Republican, 44% Democrat). However, these "values voters" are only slightly more inclined to select a Republican candidate (27%) than is true nationally (24%). In fact, the "values voters" are currently less inclined to select the Republican nominee than are born again (29%) or evangelical voters (45%).
It will be interesting to see how values voters voted today . . .

I think evangelicals are going to prove themselves so narrow minded we will vote this land right out from under our God! You know there DOES come a time when God turns sinners over to their own will and i think we are asking for it. Mormons may not be "Christian" but they are certainly values oriented, pro family, pro life and pro GOD. And please - how many UNGODLY leaders end up working God's will throughout Scripture! Please keep in mind that our sovereign God CAN work His will through a moral man. But get ourselves a Democrat in the White House and we kiss the supreme court and truly any moral ground this country has been established on...right out the window.
Huckabee cannot win. McCain is not the leader we need - he is viscious and underhanded. Today's behavior between them in West Virginia is shameful and reveals much about each of them. And nothing flattering. Romney is a man seeking God's will - as we pray for our president, God CAN change things...I implore that we fast and pray together for God's will to prevail. We are foolishly handing our country, established under God, to people who are NOT in personal pursuit of a passionate relationship with Him...they are in pursuit of their OWN GLORY...be very careful people. Take this vote seriously...it stands to heal or destroy our land...
