I, the Convert

Hindu says what it's like to open one's heart to Jesus Christ.

Indian Christians have been accused of offering illegal inducements for conversion. Some followers of Jesus have paid a high price indeed. An account by Anand Mahadevan, however, talks about a heart that has been strangely warmed.

When I was 19, a Christian friend with whom I used to play cricket invited me to his house for prayer. If he had invited me to a pub, or party, I would have gone too. At his home, he and his sister prayed for me. It was a simple yet delightful conversation with God that lasted all of five minutes. I don't remember it verbatim, but they articulated a prayer of blessing on my life, future, career and family. It was a simple affair - no miracles, no angels visiting. All they did was utter a deep human cry out to the creator God and His only son Jesus Christ. When they said Amen, I felt in my heart a desire to follow Jesus.

the simplicity in Christ...... the utterance of a "deep human cry"..... and then, "a desire to follow Jesus". We have got to "keep it real".

Amazing!!! I too, was raised as an Hindu and at the age of 21 I accepted Jesus Christ. My life has never been the same. I was raised in the US but went back to Medical School in India, when I was 16,(which my first visit there since I'd been born), and thats where I found the Lord, or I should say He found me. I heard him calling out to me. I studied in south India surrounded by many Christians, and befriended many, and now that I am back home, here in the US, Jesus is the center of my life, and I am growing in Christ daily. I never expected to hear the Lord so far off in another land. God Bless You Anand! You are indeed loved by our lord!!

I has been wonderful 26 years of knowing and loving my Lord jesus Christ.Religion itself is not the answer for a human being for its search but the personal touch of Jesus is far beyond any thing can explain. Many a times for a convert this may be a mysterious experience.
I can not immagine my life without Jesus Christ. He is very real and true. Those who seek Him, find Him.His promises are true.
yes there is a price to be paid to follow Him but it is thousand times worth!

I am previlaged to serve Him.Life has a new and real meaning when we experience Jesus christ for real.

Christianity Today often addresses issues as if what happens to America is normative for the Christian world. Yet today over 2/3 of the world's Christians come from outside North America and Europe. A large percentage of those believers are "first generation" converts from non-Christian religions. I have the privilege of teaching and mentoring students from over 20 countries in Asia. Their stories of life change, perseverance amidst persecution, and personal experience of God's power and grace are an incredible inspiration. They are also reality. There are many people in the West who are ambivalent about the inroads of a secular culture that questions the need or reality of conversion to Christ. But please never forget that people truly need the Lord. When they find Him, whatever their religious background, what they receive is better than anything they could possibly experience without Him.
