Documentary Hypothesis

Stan Guthrie

With biblical scholar Darrell Bock and others weighing the evidence, a new, eight-part documentary series offered by Day of Discovery asks the question, "Jesus: Man, Messiah, or More?" The first installment is available now for free; later ones to come next month.

HT: Ed Komoszewski and Justin Taylor.

Hasn't the documentary hypothesis already been debunked? Doesn't the hypothesis say the book of Isaiah was written by two different people? However, Jesus quoted both sections of Isaiah, and said the entire book was written by Isaiah; the same person.

I think that Stan is using the title "Documentary Hypothesis" creatively rather than technically. The Day of Discovery program is a "documentary" confirming a scholarly group's "hypothesis" about the historical Jesus. It has nothing to do with the JEDP theory (which deals with supposed sources for the Pentateuch).

Hi

I would like to answer the question, "Jesus: Man, Messiah, or More?"

I would say, let Jesus be a perfect man only and revise the tenets of the Catholic Church to fulfill the spiritual needs of the Americans.

Already they have eulogized Jesus to an extent that it does not satisfy the ordinary people. cathnewsusa have reported that the number of Catholics has decreased by about 400000 in the last year. This speaks volumes about the Catholic tenets, please.

The Catholic tenets need to be revised in the wake of the above to satisfy the ordinary people and that they don’t turn to Atheism in confusion and frustration.

I love Jesus and Mary as I love Moses and his mother.

Thanks

I am an Ahmadi peaceful Muslim
