What Is Gleanings?

At Christianity Today, we’re constantly tracking important developments in the church and the world. Often we use our network of reporters around the world (and for that, visit our main site). But we also monitor other news outlets, bloggers, newsmakers’ social media feeds, and countless other information streams. Gleanings compiles the most urgent and interesting items we’ve found, explains why you need to know about them, and gives you the background you need to understand them. It’s our snapshot of what God is doing in the world, hour by hour.

Larry King to Host Octo-Mom Debate

President of Americans United for Life will discuss the mother who gave birth to octuplets.

Nadya Suleman, the mother who gave birth to octuplets in California, continues to make headlines about her sex life, public aid, possible home foreclosure, and death threats.

Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life and AUL Action, is scheduled to appear on CNN's Larry King Live tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern to discuss the Octo-Mom case. AUL describes itself as the oldest pro-life organization in the country.

On Yoest's website this morning, this is how the show was promoted:

She will be doing another debate on the welfare mom with 14 children.

There is no husband.

There is no one to take care of the children.

Except the taxpayer.

Yoest also appeared on Mike Huckabee's Huckabee cable show on FOX this past Saturday and Sunday. In the YouTube clip below, she says the case raises issues about reproductive technology regulation.

Comments

Unfortunately, we've just learned that King has cancelled the segment.

Thank goodness he cancelled it. This Nadya does not need any more attention. King and his sponsors were being BOYCOTTED for having anything to do with this woman. By the way, if followers of "Christianity Today" are in support of Suleman, perhaps you would like to support her financially. The rest of the nation was not looking for another 8 mouths to go on public assistance. God did not mean for people to breed like animals, putting out one litter after another. Smart people do not have more children than they can afford to care for and those who are too stupid to get it should have their children taken away and placed in loving arms that are not so selfish and self-absorbed.

This women has continually showed what a self obsorbed person she really is. She has done nothing but try to make money off her babies at the cost of her six older children. Any TV channel that offers her a reality show, is a fool, because who is going to watch it??? There has to be some families in this great country who could love and afford to take care of these precoius children. Nadya does not deserve them.

I am thrilled the segment was cancelled! Although I am intrigued by Nadya Suleman (it IS a sensational story) - I also want her to disappear from the headline radar (no pun intended). Her children deserve her attention.
