The Baby Preacher
Today's video inkblot.
Ted Olsen
So which is more interesting? (1) This video?
or (2) the comments from people who think it's terrifying and resembles "one of hitler's speaches from the propaganda films"

That pretty much freaks me out.

Um, I echo Mary's above comment.

totally thought of hitler. then thought of psalm 8:2 - "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise." have no idea what tiny graham is all about or why the church did this, but i dig him.

How could this remind you of Hitler? It's a baby boy who can't talk yet trying to "preach." I think sharing the video online was somewhat reckless b/c it naturally opens this church and congregation open to speculation and scrutiny, but reminiscent of Hitler? I don't think so. He's just a baby. :)

This kind of spectacle is absolutely a shame. It has no place in the order of the church service. He said NOTHING. There was thus nothing to edify the body.

I wouldn't go to his church, but the kid's got passion. My first thought was Billy Sunday. He's mimicking a revival preacher. I think it's really cute, and I laughed out loud. If you can't enjoy it for what it is you need a heavy dose of chill pills. Anyone who seriously thinks "Hitler" needs to seek help.

It's just a kid mimicking what he sees.
Hasn't anyone seen a kid that memorizes every word of his favorites movie, or sings along with every song he hears?
Hitler? C'mon people...

I concur with Angela. This kind of inanity is completely out of place in a church, and the leaders, who should have had the sense to disallow it in the first place, obviously condoned it. The kid even had organ accompaniment. If this were on America’s Funniest Home Videos, the audience would be laughing. Instead the congregation sounded like they were caught up in rapture. Maybe I’m a little harsh here, but I believe the prophetic word applies to this situation. “My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good” (Jeremiah 4:22, New International Version).

it should be not Hitler but charlie Chaplin style in silence too. it is funny but when he/she grows up, please teach the biblical way. God bless.

The little one is funny once.
The behaviour of the adults in that congregation is not.
What comes to mind are the words of the Prophet Isaiah: Isa 3:4 I will make boys their officials; mere children will govern them.
Makes wonder who is more childish, or who is imitating who. What kind of a people are these? Aren't these some of the most lectured, educated, trained, instructed, doctored people the history of mankind has ever known? In a family or friends gathering it would be cute. But in a congregation of mostly adults and the aforementioned!
It's a little stange to say the least.

What better place for a carnival sideshow like that than in a church. (We can be pretty sure it was a Baptist church, right?)
And what is wrong with that grunting child? At his size and age, he ought to be speaking in legible phrases, but the poor schlub is still pre-verbal. Hope they sold tickets to that freakshow.....
