What Is Gleanings?

At Christianity Today, we’re constantly tracking important developments in the church and the world. Often we use our network of reporters around the world (and for that, visit our main site). But we also monitor other news outlets, bloggers, newsmakers’ social media feeds, and countless other information streams. Gleanings compiles the most urgent and interesting items we’ve found, explains why you need to know about them, and gives you the background you need to understand them. It’s our snapshot of what God is doing in the world, hour by hour.

Britain's Least Wanted

Anti-gay pastor named on exclusion list as fomenter of hatred.

Comments

Kansas "Pastor," Fred Phelps is "anti-gay" in the same way Osama Bin Laden is anti-Christian -- both violent, vicious, and hateful. Neither are simply "controversial." And Mister Savage's hatred spews from dozens of "Christian" radio stations nation-wide. Is it any wonder that America's youth are leaving the church in droves. When are Evangelicals going to purge the evil within our midst? As the "Day of Prayer" is planned around the country, ought not those who lead it sit in the ashes of personal repentance for what we have become by following a Political party down the road of materialism and nationalism and away from our Lord? As Evangelicals have taken charge of Republicanism they've lost Jesus. Is it not to our national shame that polls show Evangelicals roundly support torture when non-Christians don't. Some witness for Christ, huh?
