"I have a small mass In my frontal lobe," Matt Chandler, lead pastor of The Village Church in Highland Village, Texas, wrote on his Twitter feed. "[I have a date] with the neurosurgeon early next week."

A note at the church's website reads, "Matt Chandler suffered a seizure Thursday morning while at home, was taken to a nearby hospital and is now at home resting with his family. Matt hit his head when he suffered the seizure and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Doctors ran several tests on Matt and will continue to run tests in the coming days. We will keep you posted. Please pray for Matt, Lauren and the kids. The best we can do as a church body right now is to give him space and our prayers. He is surrounded by family members, the elders and friends."

Chandler, whose multisite church has a weekly attendance of about 6,000, has become a major conference draw and a leader in the Young Reformed movement. He talks about his ministry in the latest issue of our sister publication Leadership Journal.

I didn't know he was reformed...
Anyway i hope he gets better, and God directs his doctors.

Of course he is reformed. Do you not listen to his sermons?
He isn't keeping it in the closet or anything.
I'm praying for Matt, his sermons are always so solid to God's word, and the people need to be fed.

This article was about his tumor and all you care about is if he's reformed or not. Sad.

Totally agree with Marie. Far out some people can be so stupid.

we're praying for matt and his loved ones to have strength at this time and to rely on, rest in, and trust Jesus. "praying" for his doctors is something that doesn't require Christianity - even laypersons, athiests, nominalists, muslims "pray" for doctors to do well in surgery, etc. you *can* pray it, but please pray for more.

Praying for him. Have enjoyed his sermons.

Whether he is reformed or he isn't is not the issue. When a brother is in need of prayer, we pray, no matter what his biblical view is. Matt is an unbelievable speaker and is a strong voice for this generation. Please continue to pray for Pastor Matt and his family.

Give kiki a little credit, all he\she said was that he\she didn't realize Matt Chandler was reformed. Kiki didn't even say whether that was a good or bad thing. He\she was merely responding to a piece of the article. Let's all be loving here. We know God's hand is on Matt and we pray for His healing touch. Matt's messages have touched and challenged my life. God bless him and keep him! May God give him many more years of ministry.

I have never met him but listen to him daily on podcast... I am in prayer and so is my church here in Boston, MA. You are covered in friends and you will be for a long time. God is an amazing Healer and I know that he is protecting you and that is healing Hands are upon you.

The only hands that will do any good for this man are the hands of his doctors. Unclasp yours and help somebody today.

Praying for Matt just came across this page. Please someone tell me what is 'reformed' in the context used here as it seems like something bad??

Posted by: Jules at December 30, 2009

"Reformed" usually refers to believing in the truth that the Calvinistic view of salvation is expressed in the Bible. There are other defining marks, but that is usually the one that stands out. The Reformers (during the Protestant Reformation and later) usually held to the Calvinistic beliefs, and so the Reformed belief is usually a synonym for Calvinism.

@Jules - Forgot to say, it isn't bad, it's actually a glorious truth about a God's amazing grace.
