Retired Moody Radio Pastor Don Cole Dies at 89
Cole was also known for his missions work in Angola.
Former Moody Radio personality and Angola missionary Don Cole died on Saturday, August 4, from complications due to Parkinson's disease. He was 89.
Cole was the host of Open Line, a Moody Q&A broadcast about the Bible, for more than 25 years (1982-2008). His long bio also includes missionary work in Angola.
Collin Lambert, vice president of Moody Radio, called Cole "one of the most humble, loving, caring men I've ever known. ... He will be truly missed."
In honor of Cole's legacy, Moody Radio will air an hour-long special called "Remembering Pastor Cole" tonight at 8 p.m. CST. The special is also available for live streaming here.
Moody also invites people to share stories of Cole's influence on a Facebook memorial page.

One hour is all this man gets? Really? That is an abomination.

Sad to hear of his passing...
I was 14 years old in the mid-80's when I made a profession of faith and I literally grew up listening Donald Cole's biblical answers to questions callers raised. Pastor Cole (he never liked being called Dr. Cole) always seemed to impress upon those listening to the program a sense of grace, strength, and a light sense of humor. He and his wife Naomi were a great team and seemed to enjoy bantering back and forth while answering questions or sharing insights from Scripture. Pastor Cole seemed to especially enjoy when younger callers would ask seemingly simple questions and he would treat them with the same respect and kindness that he did everyone else. Looking forward to catching up with Don Cole in heaven some day and letting him know how much he blessed me during my early years in the faith.

I had the privilege of growing up in the Lord while living in Chicago with Moody Bible Institute, Moody Radio and Pastor Donald Cole. Now living in Charlotte, NC I am so thankful for internet radio. Today as I'm listening to Moody online, I heard reference to the passing of Donald Cole. I thank God for the few years that I was privileged to hear his ministry, his musings on his beloved wife and family. It was also mentioned that his wife passed 2 weeks later. There was a reason I tuned into today, as I was thinking of Pastor Cole a few weeks ago and did a google search on him. I'm happy that he has gone on to his reward and is at home with the Lord, and that many countless number of people were impacted by his ministry.

I confessed my faith in the Lord when I was only a little girl in a country
village in Marion County, Florida. I became aquainted with Pastor and Sister Cole's radio ministry more than fifteen years ago.I can truthfully say that my life has never been the since then. I am so happy that the Holy Spirit and the Power of God have anointed me to this Everlasting joy filled with Wisdom and Grace. Even though I've never had the pleasure of meeting them personally, but I just know that .I'll meet them around God.s Throne. A-men

I met Don Cole at a breakfast during the WCRH/Cedar Ridge Boys Home Share-A-Thon in Hagerstown, MD in the 1980's.
My late wife and I would listen to him twice each week on the radio program Open Line.
What a treasure he was.
Pastor Cole liked strong coffee. At the Hagerstown breakfast I watched him pour a cup of coffee and then add a teaspoon of instant coffee to it. He called coffee one of his vices.
I was not aware of his homegoing until today, December 5, 2012, and I can only think that his family and thousands of friends will miss him greatly, but I can now imagine him sparing with the Apostles and singing praises to Jesus in Heaven.
As a former Catholic, I know that God sent him to me by way of the radio in order that I would straighten out my spiritual life.
