TV Star Converts, Tells Viewers to Stop Watching His 'Filth' Show
"Two and a Half Men" star Angus T. Jones shares surprising testimony on YouTube.
The youngest member of CBS's "Two and a Half Men" soon could be walking away from the raunchy show after 10 years—and he's urging other viewers to do the same.
In a YouTube video posted by Forerunner Christian Church, 19-year-old Angus T. Jones calls the show "filth" and encourages viewers to stop watching. Jones says he began to doubt his role on the show—where he earns an estimated $350,000 per episode—after converting to Christianity. (Jones is now a Seventh-day Adventist, reports RNS. CNN explores the denomination's emphasis on purity.)
"I'm not okay with what I'm learning, what the Bible says and being on that television show," Jones stated.
He also urged viewers, "If you watch 'Two and a Half Men,' please stop watching ... Please stop filling your head with filth."
According to the Chicago Tribune, "The CBS network and Warner Bros Television, which makes the comedy, both declined to comment on Monday on Jones's remarks."

Good for Angus! I've never watched the show so I can't comment on the particulars. I can say, however, that most of contemporary western entertainment culture is decadent any way you look at it, even from the perspective of godless communists or pagans.

Conviction is usually a good thing. But as far as I can tell, he is still getting $350K per episode for the show he is trashing. It would be more persuasive if he left the show, or returned the money. Its a tough call, but I say, pick a lane. I think the Bible said something about serving two masters. Perhaps this is what that looks like. Good luck Jones.

I am so glad to read about Angus's conversion and his desire to follow God's will no matter what (even if it means losing his job). Let's pray for him because what he says in this video will probably get him in a battle against the TV producers. Let's pray for him.

Though I never watch the show I honestly think this new found believer is being used. Used by the ministry theforerunner777. I say this for he is a new convert, young and now everything is black and white, good and evil. And as he matures he will grow to realize that this is not the case and there are a lot of unkowns and uncertainties in life.
He has made a ton of money and continues to do so while he is on the air. As well I am sure the ministry has benefited from his being on tv. So unless he breaks his contract and deals with the consequences then what he says has little real meaning. Plus what has occurred is his death blow to working in Hollywood on film or tv again. He may be all right with that right now but a few years down the road I bet he regrets what he has said and how he was used.

@simonatlaw: I read that he is under contract. Not sure from a legal standpoint if he can just walk out on the show. @Jeff Coe: Everythig is good and evil. Everything is black and white. Everything is either of Christ or it isn't. Maturing i Jesus Christ looks nothing like you stated. Things become even more clear as you see things through the eyes of our Savior. It's more likely that if he growsto regret his decision, it is because he was never truely converted in the first place.

Jones has been with the program for ten years. Apparently his conversion has come after signing his most recent contract. While I don't expect instant spiritual maturity from a new Christian, I'd say that Jones exceeds my expectation by taking a stand which will likely cost him a job and a lot of money. Respect.

I've never watched that particular show but if it's anything like the current fare dished up by the networks, I can understand his decision to walk away. So what do we get on TV these days? No original creativity, copy-cat writers, sewer-mouthed actors, sexual obsession, unabated violence and stupid pratfalls usually by young white adult males whose antics mimic what might be expected from 10 year old 'widdle' boys. My time and intelligence won't permit me to watch that drivel.

I'm confused over this. Other sites claim that he is a member of Seventh Day Adventism, not a Christian. It's great that he is admitting his show is worldly, but someone needs to get thier facts straight before people start looking towards him as a model of Christian faith.
You can't believe everything you hear/read, right?

I'm not aware of any mainstream standard by which Seventh Day Adventists don't count as Christian. They may be a bit legalistic at times, and they have a few distinctives that I would disagree with, but I don't see any reason to question their Christianity.

In the spotlight I think he could just live right and make a better statement. The show is just a show. Just acting right? He could take the money he makes and make a stand for no drugs and help people with addictions. Just a thought...

Dear JH re your post from November 27. SDA (not a Christian)??? First how do "you" define what constitues being a Christian?
Posted By: David | November 27, 2012 8:36 PM
@JH: He did join a Seventh Day Adventist Church. Just an FYI, Seventh Day Adventists are Christians. They believe all the fundamental beliefs of Christianity, mainly Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Why should the fact that he joined the SDA Church make him less of a role model for Christian faith?

As a Seventh-day Adventist pastor, I can definitely affirm that our church is a Christian denomination. We place our faith in Jesus Christ as our Saviour and hold to all of the Christian beliefs expressed in the Statement of Faith of the World Evangelical Alliance. We hold to the full divinity of Christ and base all of our beliefs on the Bible. We believe that our salvation is only by faith in Jesus Christ alone and God's grace, and that our obedience to Jesus as Lord is a response out love for what He did for us on the Cross and not something gains us merit before God. I enjoy reading Christianity Today regularly.
I support Angus Jones' stand on Christian purity, though if he had asked for my advice, I would have advised him to express Christ-like love towards the other people involved in producing and acting in the show.
