Motivational Speaker Zig Ziglar Dies, Now 'Speaking With Jesus'

Former SBC vice president wrote more than 30 books, including "See You At The Top."

Famed motivational speaker and author Zig Ziglar died today after suffering from a case pneumonia, CNN reports. He was 86 years old.

Ziglar was a Southern Baptist who served one term as First Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention, reports Frank Lockwood. (Baptist Press provides more details.)

Ziglar was best known as a motivational guru, but he also was a prominent evangelical lay leader. Forbes characterized Ziglar's style as having "a Southern charm and lessons grounded in Christianity."

The Dallas Morning News has posted a photo gallery. Ziglar's passing was announced on his Facebook page:

Zig Ziglar passed from this world today after a short bout with pneumonia. Though his time on earth has ended, he is speaking with Jesus now in his heavenly home. The angels in heaven are rejoicing and his family is celebrating a life well lived.

CT previously reviewed Ziglar's autobiography.

I listened to Zig's tapes for hours at a time, he was a great inspiration to my sales career and life in general........He will be greatly missed!

When I started out in sales some 28 years ago his tapes got me through some rough spots. I had the good fortune to meet him once at one of his seminars. He was one of a kind. He will be missed!

I know I sure will miss him. I am not in sales but his life lessons apply to virtually everyone, not just sales people. Wat a great man. I am thankful to have been introduced to his work> I only wish I could have met him .

Zigler is the topmost motivational Guru of the world. He is not only the best motivational speaker who impressed me the most but is also a very successful man in his field and has a perfectly balanced family life. It is so pathetic that a virus took such a strong man away. He will always live in the minds of met till the world exists.
