What Is Gleanings?

At Christianity Today, we’re constantly tracking important developments in the church and the world. Often we use our network of reporters around the world (and for that, visit our main site). But we also monitor other news outlets, bloggers, newsmakers’ social media feeds, and countless other information streams. Gleanings compiles the most urgent and interesting items we’ve found, explains why you need to know about them, and gives you the background you need to understand them. It’s our snapshot of what God is doing in the world, hour by hour.

Christian Wiman Leaves Top Poetry Magazine for Yale Divinity School

Wiman: 'My years at Poetry have been the most exciting and rewarding of my life.'

Christian Wiman, poet and editor of Poetry, the world's oldest and most influential magazine devoted to poetry, recently gave CT an exclusive interview regarding how his Baptist faith was revived by love and cancer.

This week he announced that he will step down from his role at Poetry on June 30.

Wiman will leave Poetry to join the faculty of the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. He will begin July 1.

“[Wiman] has led Poetry with integrity, boldness, and grace through a decade of greatness,” Poetry Foundation president John Barr said in a press release. “Those same qualities make him a colleague we will miss greatly.”
