History Channel’s ‘Bible’ Series Actually Teaching People—Especially Non-Christians
Nearly 7 in 10 viewers say they learned something new. And 3 in 10 are non-Christians.

About 4 in 10 Americans have watched at least one episode of the show, according to a survey by Barna Research for the American Bible Society.
More than a quarter of the show’s viewers—13.1 million for the premiere and around 10.8 million in the weeks since—are self-professed non-Christians, they found.
The miniseries, which airs on the History Channel each Sunday until Easter, portrays Bible stories from Genesis through Revelation, and 69 percent of viewers say they have learned something new about the Bible from watching, according to the survey.
Producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, both Catholics, consulted with theologians, scholars, and pastors for accuracy.
“Our greatest hope is that this series will affect a new generation of viewers and draw them back to the Bible,” said Burnett, the man behind shows like Survivor and The Voice. “…when you look at The Bible you realize that this is the most enduring piece of work that we will ever work on. More people will see The Bible series than all of our other shows combined.”
Comments
While the show does introduce one to the action and some of the political history of the Bible, it fails to properly point to Christ in EVERY story, which is what the Bible does. Also, I find many inaccuracies in the retellings, for instance: they portray Isaac as fighting and wrestling with Abraham on the altar, but Scripture says that Isaac was silent like a type of Christ. His submission to his father unto death foreshadowed Jesus' ultimate sacrifice and how He never spoke a word to stop His suffering.
I could go on with the list of issues with this series but I get the gist. Cinematically speaking, it's a good effort. However, contextually speaking, it's a mess of inaccuracies and political correctness. I mean c'mon, we know why Sodom was destroyed (SODOMY)...homosexuality! Scripture says EVERY man in the town came to have homosexual sex with the angels.
Alas, I have vented... Lol. But seriously folks the best version of the Bible is the Bible...not a show or movie, but the text.

I haven't been able to watch an entire episode so far because there has been so, SO much sickening violence and so little of God's LOVE for His broken, wandering people. Sincerely hoping the Jesus episodes remedy this.....

With just watching some of the first episode, it is horrible if you actually read the New International Version bible, NKJV,KJV OR MANY OTHERs you will see that so much is incorrect in the episode as well as too much violence. The bible has the only true real facts. With how many people this is being broadcasted to it really makes me wonder how many aren't getting the whole picture and dont actually know some of the real facts that are changed
I believe that if something is being broadcasted to so many homes it should be more biblically correct

Tooooooo much violence!
Posted By: Tutu hi | March 22, 2013 11:03 PM
I hope everyone realizes that the violence is actually toned down. History is violent, I doubt many of the people who have complained about the violence have even read the slaughter of thousands of women and children in the book of Joshua, from God's command.
The death of solomon and his swordbearer is much more gruesome in context, where the philistines actually take their bodies and hang them on the walls of the city.
Yes, there is variations from the text to the screen. Duh. It's a television show, the bible is the composition of over 3000 years of history, there is going to be missing information, even the text has different information on what certain events have happened.
If more complainers were willing to read their book they would actually appreciate the effort put into the series.

Ezekiel 16: 45-50 make it clear that Sodom's destruction was not due to homosexuality (although it was one of the abominations). God tells Israel they committed even worse abominations and a short list of Sodom's sins are listed (no homosexuality mentioned).
The Bible does NOT point out Jesus in every story. If this were true, witnessing to Jews would be a snap. The NT shows us how all Scripture lead to Jesus in the end, not that every story points to Him in the text. Jesus didn't end every story or teaching with "this is Me in it" and expecting a mini-series to do so is expecting more of the producers than we get from Jesus.
If we are going to correct someone or some mini-series, we might want to make sure we are correct ourselves.
Posted By: Jim Ricker | March 23, 2013 6:33 AM
Come on! It is a dramatic representation of the bible story. The producers are not held to the same standars as say a seminary professor teaching a survey of the OT and the NT. Seems that Christmas crèches get a by on criticism. Try putting all the characters surrounding the birth of Jesus together from the texts. Dramatists get some flexibility as they tell a story.

If one were to note violence on this series, how much more violence has taken place in the US since Roe vs Wade.
Over 50M abortions, which was probably a significant part of the whole human race in Biblical times.
It would have been interesting to have quoted the Jewish Torah, on the 10 Commandments, including the one about:
"Not shall you shed innocent blood"

I think you just about nailed it Hal. No matter how Hollywood portrays the Bible there will be artistic liberties taken and that also includes art and music too. Many of the great paintings of biblical scenes and stories throughout history took liberties as well.

"The Bible" miniseries is not the documentary that many expected. Instead, it is a stylistic presentation of selected events upon which the directors chose to build; the result is a 'Classic Comics" approach. For viewers accustomed to impressionistic and casually connected stories driven with dramatized violence, this may seem a modern and effective presentation. Such viewers are willing to overlook the facts.
For viewers who prefer a traditional approach (as I do), this miniseries comes close to a caricature. Thus, I will not recommend it to any of the nonChristian adults I know because it distorts The Bible.

The many deviations from the Scriptural text also bother me -- and the more so because Downey-Burnett SAY (in writing) at the beginning of each episode that they are portraying the Bible accurately (I'm paraphrasing; can't remember the exact sentence.) And then they promptly don't do that.
I understand that when filmmakers normally put a book on film there are artistic liberties taken because film is a very different medium than the printed page. But the Bible as God's Word is in a whole other category in that regard, and Downey-Burneet do seem to realize that. Yet their own reading of it, and the advice of all the many biblical and theological experts they say they hired, did not prevent a lot of errors that are not minor. I would call many of those errors egregious, in fact..
Of course I'm glad that non-Christians who are watching The Bible may be led to read -- and then understand -- the actual Bible. But that possibility for understanding is being needlessly impeded by Downey-Burnett themselves, it seems to me. Of course, the Spirit works mysteriously and God's Word does not return to him void.... So we should pray that the Spirit uses even this weak vessel to stir people's hearts.
The violence, per se, doesn't bother me a whole lot. (The near-constant high-level noise and constant loud music are the most annoying things to me from a technical aspect.) The thousands of years of history covered WERE horrifically violent. And of course God commanded some of that violence for his own purposes. But will the casual (non-Christian) viewer understand WHY? (Do some Christians even understand why?) To me the context and reason for much of it seems lost.
In addition, because they've tried to cover the whole Bible in just a small number of episodes the chronological jumping around must makes things even harder to follow for people who don't know the content of the Bible, and especially the Old Testament. Though I know the stories, I myself find that quick jumping around disconcerting. And oddly, some of the stuff they've spend time on I think they spend too much time on, while ignoring other important stories. I also take issue with many of the characterizations of biblical personages, including Moses, Abraham, Sarah, Samson, Daniel and Peter (Peter, to whom we were introduced briefly last week, and who, in this version, initially balked at, or at least questioned, Jesus' call).
I'm going to keep watching to the end but admittedly I'm doing so with increasing annoyance. My husband was out after Episode I. I don't particularly blame him.

It is sad that we live in the times that we do. The only good thing about this movie is I hope people pick up there bibles and read the truth. I am sure the people behind the movie r trying to get it right. There just like the rest of the Christians in the good USA! Pick there bibles up on Sunday for church. They dont have a clue what it says! If we where real this movie would had made us mad for not telling the truth. That makes me think about when Jesus said only few will enter in.

Ben,
What was the "abomination (singular)" of Sodom mentioned in verse 50?
I will give you a hint, it has something to do with name of the place.
Email me for further conversation.

All I see is that. God just wants you to kill people cause God said so
That is what I'm getting from watching the movie. now I will be turning the channel one should not miss with the true writings of the Bible.

I think some people may be getting hung up on the wrong issues here. As someone pointed out, if you want to go for Total Biblical Accuracy, then you would not have Wise Men in your Nativity (and you wouldn't know how many to put anyway.) And you wouldn't have angels actually at the Nativity scene either. (And for that matter, when it comes to the actual place they were, you'd basically be in someone's garage during a big family reunion, because the guest room was full.)
The Old Testament is chock-full of gruesome violence. It's hard to read sometimes, and it's hard to watch. But it's there.
As far as Sodom goes (which, why on earth is everyone obsessed with Sodom? Seriously, plenty of sin, and yes they did skip over the bit about the whole town coming out. They also skipped over the bit where Lot offers his own daughters instead.) Also, what "verse 50"? Because there are not 50th verses in the Genesis story of Sodom...
If you're discussing Old Testament Law, you'd negate the entire point of Christ. Christ came to be that ultimate sacrifice so we didn't have to follow those Old Testament laws anymore. And the three mentions of homosexuality in the New Testament are mentioned in context with other sins - idolatry, adultery, thievery - and would not seem to be higher or lower on a "sin scale" than others. We've got a whole bunch of gluttons and sloths trying to keep the focus elsewhere, I suppose.
This series is starting a discussion. Why we can't be grateful for that, and try to have an educated discourse rather than blathering on like a bunch of Puritans about how violent it is, or whether there is enough homosexual-smiting is just about the daftest thing I've seen lately, and I watch CSPAN.

They When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

The Bible series is the biggest disappointment I've seen on TV. Every episode contains graphic violence that I will not allow my children to see. There are so many other scenes of love and compassion that should have been portrayed. This series will no doubt turn a lot of people off to the Bible because of the extreme violence...then again, maybe this was the producer's intention. An athiest, no doubt.
Posted By: Robert R | March 24, 2013 5:57 PM
Adam and Eve point to Christ. The offspring that crushes the head of the serpent is Christ defeating Satan. Abraham points to Christ because his willingness to give his own son foreshadows God's sacrifice of His own Son, Jesus. Isaac's ordeal on the altar points to Christ because he was a type of Christ, meaning he represented the Lamb of God being sacrificed to the Father for atonement. The account of Jacob and Esau point to Christ because if shows us that God pre chooses those whom Christ will give His inheritance of salvation to...God chose Jacob even though Esau was born first. See where this is going? I love it, God is good! It's all about Christ the Truth, Way & Life!
When The people of Israel transgressed and Hod sent serpents into the camp He had mercy and told Moses to raise a serpent up in a stick and all those bitten who look upon it would be saved. That points to Christ who was raised up on the cross so that all look upon His sacrifice and believe will be saved from the second death that sin brings for the lost. I challenge you to retread the Bible with the mindset of Christ and you will see Him in every account. It's ALL about Christ! Be blessed. I'm not here to belittle anyone, just to share what God has given me. No harm in watching the show, but it doesn't do justice to the real Living Word.

Grateful that they took the time to teach the Bible through this series. But disappointed to see scripture changed in places. Where is the New Testament did a woman travel with the disciple ? How come Jesus didn't kneel and write in the dirt when they were going they were going to stone the woman. I know the whole Bible couldn't be told, but at least what was told should have been scriptural. God says the Bible shouldn't be added to or taken from. Maybe they shouldn't have named it The Bible. We have new Christian that are doing the series in a Bible Study with us and we have to go back and straighten out what wasn't correct or what was left out in a scene that was important.

It is pretty impossible to tell the whole Bible in 10 hours. You would need a mini series that lasts all year long to begin to do that.
For those complaining about the violence, obviously you have never read the Old Testament. For those who do not believe Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed for homosexuality, also have obviously not read the Bible.
This series is not perfect and there are some very important things that I believe should have been included that were not, and some stories are not exactly accurate. On the other hand, I am very happy that it was made and that so many people are watching it. I believe God will work through it. As God used imperfect people to accomplish His perfect will, I believe He will use this imperfect film to also accomplish His perfect will.

I am saddened by the amount of bashing this show is receiving. You guys really have to be grateful that the history channel is actually for the first time ever showing true history. Yes there is violence, but the Bible itself is more violent. So they don't specifically mention homosexuality for Sodom and Gomorrah, according to the Bible account Sodom was destroyed because of it's "sexual immorality." Does being a homosexual make him or her more guilty than anyone else that lies, or steals, or kills, or lie on his taxes? No it doesn't. In God's eyes all sin is the same. The simple fact that we lie, makes us breakers of God's law and destined for hell.
This series has done a good job to show how impossible it is to follow God's law to a T. I look forward to see how they answer that with Jesus ministry. I am a youth pastor, have been for five years, and I am thoroughly enjoying this show.
We as Christians should be grateful that we even have the chance to tell others about even some of the inconsistencies because it means that we are actually talking to others about Christ, it is also doing what it set out to do. Introduce people to the Bible, that WE AS CHRISTIANS, don't even read ourselves.
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness.
Instead of debating, and fighting, and having quarrels over why The Bile on the history channel isn't good. Let's instead use this as an opportunity to spread the love of Christ comparing the stories on the screen to the loving word written on the pages.

God bless those who had the courage to bring this mini-series extolling God's Word to the people. Jesus did not go into the places where he was welcome to preach but instead into those where the lessons were most needed. If this series brings but one person to a place where they enquire further and by doing so accept Christ as their Savior then it is worth it. If it brings only one person back to the Faith after being caught up in modern television trash it is a Blessing. Please don't criticize any medium which may lead to a saved soul. If you have the knowledge to criticize the details of the telling you are Truly Blessed, don't let that knowledge keep you from seeing how God can touch others.
Peace.

Dear Youth Paster, I personnel am not trying to bash the series. I just believe every word the Bible says. Just saying they shouldn't have called it The Bible if it wasn't going to be accurate. Not so sure your statement about Christian's is correct either, because some Christian do read the Bible--that is how some of us are able to see, that some of it isn't scriptural. We have new Christians in our Bible Study keep questioning why they did things the way they did? I am grateful we have older Christians who are able to correctly guide the new Christians. I treasure The Bible -- God 's word. This series has definitely given us opportunity with the new Christian to talk about God's word. Grateful for that !

That Film was not accurate in scene after scene. People better fact check and compare it with the real Bible! They changed it from the real version on big and small things.
Examples of a different version on this film:
Jesus did not go into the Tomb of Lazarus. He told them to roll the stone away and wept. He also stood outside of the tomb and said Lazarus come forth. The movie had him going in and kissing Lazarus that is not in the genuine bible version.
Herod did not go mock John the Baptist in the dungeon and order him killed to his face.. Herod' s wife had her daughter dance for Herod and it pleased him so much he asked his niece what she wanted and he would grant it not realizing her mother put her up to asking for the Head of John the Baptist. Herod made an oath to give her anything she asked but he didn't willingly want to kill John the Baptist like the movie version had it.
The wise men did not visit the baby Jesus the same night he was born. They arrived when he was in a house and much older, not the night he was born in a stable. The bible said they saw Jesus in a house.
When Jesus read from Isaiah in Nazareth in the Synagogue and read
Isaiah 61:1 and said today this prophecy is fulfilled meaning he was the Messiah his Mother did not say it is your time nor did they throw stones at him as he walked away with his disciples. The bible version has them trying to throw him over a cliff but he walked thru the crowd and went his way.
Jesus never kissed Paul the Apostle in a version. Paul saw him in the sky shining brighter than the Sun.
I could go on and on but why make a movie about the bible and change it to what they thought it should say if it is called the bible at least make it accurate all the way!
Funny how Judas looked totally dark haired an Jesus but Jesus looked more American than an original ancient Jew!.
When people really hold the bible as sacred why change any real fact to something made up just for entertainment, Let the sacred text stand on it's own merit and not change the facts!
This was just sad and disgraceful along with the Obama looking Satan when anyone who has read their whole bible knows that Satan transforms himself into an Angel of light and copies the beauty of God. I had to turn this fraud movie off and not could not keep watching it. I've read the entire bible word for word and hate to see any of it revised!
Posted By: DJJ | March 25, 2013 3:20 AM
Correction: Judas looked dark haired and more like an original Jew of Hebrew nationality while Jesus looked more American white.
Why must all the bad guys look dark haired and more Jewish. In the bible Judas was paid 30 pieces of silver to identify Jesus and this meant Jesus looked like any ordinary average Jew in the crowd.
Wish to God they'd make a movie with a Jesus who really looked like he was of the Jewish.race of that day before there was mixing with European Gentiles.
I'm sad that this movie could have been greater on facts and wish we could bring back the Visual Bible.
The Producers said they consulted Pastors but not all Pastors are bible scholars are have read the entire bible. Research has it that only ten percent of Christendom has read their entire bible word for word from Genesis to Revelation. No wonder bible illiterates are quick to fall for any and everything under the sun, accurate or not! Sad and shameful. Respecting the word of God seems to not be in vogue when people applaud portions of it changed into fallacy!

I highly recommend The Visual Bible: The Book of Matthew. It is narrated directly from Matthew (first book of the New Testament). The portrayal of Jesus, a man of joy, laughter, passion, focus, love, is the best I've seen, and actually changed my life for the better. You can check it out on YouTube...the movie is four hours long, and while I don't think YouTube shows the movie in its entirety, it has quite a bit.

I have been deeply disturbed by the way they have manipulated the Bible & then had the audacity to name this after it. Many important stories have been skimmed or skipped. Holes are created in understanding the lineage of Christ & the history of the Israel. Scripture added to & misquoted. Why is Mary so dominant? Da Vinci Code fans? This is a travestry & will lead people to the Word of Truth I hope. The Scriptures speak out about such abuse of God's Word. I am astonished by the Post Modern influence once again being used by Satan. The fear is the skeptic whose heart if lost because we have again appeared as Christians to contradict ourselves & tell inaccurate storys. People's souls are at stake here, not just ratings. The lie that they attempted to be as accurate as possible by consulting reliable sources is hogwash & I pray for the producers & writers as they will reap what they have sown for this blatant defamation of the Vox Dei.

I am thankful that any movie about the bible is making such a huge impact and being shown on tv for millions to see. God will fix what needs fixed if anything. When I became a christian yrs ago something caught my attention (a song, a movie, something said in church) and from there my growth began. To be honest all the details of how someone looked or how every detail played out in the bible didn't matter much back then. What drew me was thinking someone could help me when life was a mess and could love me that much to die for me. I am enjoying the series.
We live in a country that has so much violence. And yes if just one person comes to know Jesus from this movie it is well worth it.
But I believe this movie is touching many.

I have been a single mother of my 8 year old son for 4yrs now. My husband chose to leave me for another woman because she is wealthy and ready to have my husband at all cost. My husband forgot we both say "FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE" to each other as man and wife. I love him too mucg but there was no way i could stop him and he was even filling for a divorce. Since then i have been taking care of our son single handedly until i saw much talk about this spell lady (priestessifaa@yahoo.com) who have helped marriages come together and relationship. I contacted her and she promised me 2days that i will have my husband back and at the actual days which this priestess told me, my husband came back begging with his knees. I have never seen my husband beg me for any reason, but that day he did.
To cut this long sweet story short, priestessifaa@yahoo.com has helped me reunite my family and am happy with my husband. This spell lady is great i am a sure witness.

(Sigh) This miniseries is just a gateway application to help lead non-believers to the WORD. It is not an accurate of detailed depition of the Bible, as it claims- but at least it tries to spark an interest in God's story. A story that is often been referred to as a fable or elaborate fairy tales. These statements are common place in the world and are truly ignorant at best; however this is how the Bible is percieved today.
This series is an attempt to get a basic surface interest in who God is- and apparently the author of the WORD is using it to a great affect. Perhaps the success of this series will enable a true dramitization series on television that could carry on for several seasons. This would be great. It is impossible to squeeze the Bible into a 10 hour series- especially when the Exodus story needs at least 4 hours minimum and don't get me started on the Gospels. Really missed not seeing Joseph, Gideon, Ehud, many of the Prophets etc.
Perhaps the History Channel could use this as an introduction and do an ongoing series that can revisit and further develop these stories. There is apparently a market here and people are curious about God's story. Answers (even as shallow as they are) are being brought about as a result of this effort. Hopefully this can be revisited with a deeper accuracy and sincerity. In the meantime I suppose this will have to do.
Note: Funny that the series spent 10 minutes on 2 angels performing martial arts in Sodom; but skipped Joseph and Jacob completley. Very odd- but that's what happens when God's WORD is translated into entertainment. The Bible is perscriptive and not descriptive. It's a matter of the heart and not the eyes. Just my take.

The History Channel gets it wrong every time it presents any reference to the Bible. What was the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah? They want us to believe it was not being polite to strangers. I'm sorry but that isn't why God destroyed those two cities. They were destroyed for many including one of the most perverse of sins. "Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange (Greek: different, other) flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." God Destroyed Sodom Because of Fornication and Homosexuality.

I am grateful for this series, I am grateful for everyone that took the time to reach out to a huge audience. It seems that the people who seem to know everything about the bible don't appreciate the series at all. Just because it's not perfect doesn't mean we shouldn't appreciate the effort. The intentions of the show are good, and I do believe that those who choose to reach out to a better understanding of the bible, God will bless them. We should be praying for everyone that does watch this and pray that they will feel Gods love , I would recommend this series to believers and non believers . It is based on truth. Not perfect , but we aren't perfect. Pray that this series inspires people to read what is perfect.

I'm a devoted Christian, a limb of Christ's Church, and i study the Bible daily with various sources of commentaries, translations and studied theologians. I don't accredit my view of this series to any of the aforementioned, i accredit my perspective to our Father in Heaven who has revealed to me His Truth.
-Catholics orchestrating this show? Strike out, automatically. They have devised their own version of the Bible and apostasize when compared to the original Greek transaltion of God's word. Even their commercials is a worldy attempt, albeit futile, enticing folks to become a Catholic, not to have a relationship with the Father & join Christ's Church.
This series is the reason why Jude wrote his epistle, initially intending to write about 'our common salvation', but felt the urge to write about apostasy. As the word of God intended to insert Jude's epistle before Revelation, this is the real issue of the Church and why it's important to discern what we face during these times. Many people have their religion and their God, but there is one true God and this TV show blasphemes Him continually. Unbelievers will be led more astray by it and believers, who are less discerning, will be confused. I pray and encourage you to pray for those who are of this world and who corrupt the Church in the many ways done in our times. Lets pray for God to reveal to them His truth and His will for all mankind.

Oh - I have an idea! - let's take some Bible characters and Bible stories - and make up our own versions of them! Let's change it up a bit. I think we can improve on some of the characters and stories. People won't know the difference anyway. We can make a really popular TV show, have some nice music in the background, and some really good special effects, and people will love it.

If people like Hal think the story does not have to be accurate then why call it THE BIBLE? It should say in advertising just say based on the bible and not falsely advertise it as the bible.

Isaac fighting with his father at the altar... Bathsheba resisting King David's advances... David's reluctance to immediately repent of his sins... Samson portrayed as a black man... general lack of compassion... replaced by excessive violence... plus many many more examples that contradict the Holy Scriptures... !!! Satan has surely had his hand in the production of this series... !!!

First of there are no white people in the bible or in north Africa/ middle. The bible is the history of blsck people. The people in north africa to day are mostly invaders from europe of hundred of years ago. The same way india was contolled by england then devidedinto india and pakistan. Jesus could not have looked white in a million years. Think north Africa. Now think of white tarzan in black africa. Think of white woman calming the the bib black beast in king kong. Yiu see the patern. White white and more whiten of the bible. One day the white church and fake jewish not on the (ish) will be taken to court , to stop stealing black peoples history.why is the german/ jew-ish story not in the bible. Yet every thing about blacks and native infians in noth and south america is in there.

As dramatizations go, it's superb. I am so glad to see the investment of time & money to produce a Christian film that isn't mocked as being "cheezy".
That said, I had difficulty with the foreign accents (who knew Noah was Scottish?). I was also saddened to see the dramatic license taken that was not in sync with the scriptures, i.e., Isaac was not a young boy when Jacob prepared to sacrifice him, nor is there any evidence Sarah followed them into the mountains as a distraut mother about to lose her little boy.
Picky? Maybe. But the real story trumps all dramatizations, IMHO, of course ...

Some people are trying to say that Sodom was destroyed because they did not help the poor. True but abomination is used. Abomination is unnatural sex. Unnatural sex is the outward sign of a society who no longer follows God. A society who becomes self centered. And uses man's wisdom instead of God's.
Ezekiel 16:46-50
46 Now your older sister is Samaria, who lives [a]north of you with her [b]daughters; and your younger sister, who lives [c]south of you, is Sodom with her [d]daughters. 47 Yet you have not merely walked in their ways or done according to their abominations; but, as if that were too little, you acted more corruptly in all your conduct than they. 48 As I live,” declares the Lord God, “Sodom, your sister and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. 49 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not [e]help the poor and needy. 50 Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore I removed them [f]when I saw it.

I love this show! Thank you SO MUCH. I learned something new from the show. I love it. I hope you continue with the show. I wonder if its possible to make a show on Revelation. OMG! With no mistakes. Make it exactly as it is..in the bible word by word. WOW! That would be AMAZING TO WATCH! Is it possible?

I purchased the series from iTunes, not having cable. There are so many important stories in both the Old Testament and the Gospels which were not in the series at all. History is very violent and the times of the Bible were violent times. With so much time spent recapping the previous shows and graphic detailing with cinematography used to sensationalize the violence there was no time left to add valuable Biblical stories and prophesies. The battles and gruesome acts should have been kept to a minimum to allow for the diction of the many
good Biblical stories and prophecies such as Isaiah, the story of Ruth, Mary with John the Baptist's mom and so many more whic were left out. I felt the series to be a utter failure. I wish I could return the series for my money back.

Without cable I purchased the series from ITunes. I was very disappointed. While there are many battles and violence in the Bible I felt too much time was spent showing graphic details using cinematography to enhance the violence. I felt the time spent on the violence along with the lengthy recap each new episode took up valuable time where other great instructional guidance from the Book of Ruth, Psalms, Isaiah, to Mary visiting her cousin who was mother of John the Baptist, to the choosing of the disciples and so many more could have been in the series. Far too much graphic violence with much less time spent on important Biblical stories. I wished I had not made this purchase.

In scene after scene the producers of this film changed the story but are promoting it as accurate. What a joke!
Who can you trust nowadays to tell it like it is? Obviously no one when it comes to the Bible. Read your whole bible word for word, or go on Amazon and find the Visual Bible films starting with the Gospel of John to get a word for word depiction. This film was so fake and if anyone has actually read the whole bible they would know it.
How can anyone fall for that hottie sexy Jesus when it is clear in the prophecies about Jesus in Isaiah that he would not be outwardly handsome or outwardly attractive? Isaiah 53:2. And how did the film's producers manage to delete the precious part that shows Jesus humanity when he wept outside the Tomb of Lazarus and called him to come out. Jesus did not go in the Tomb but stood outside and called him out. What Fakes! They pushed this as totally bible but it is not accurate at all.

A tooth (plural teeth) is a small, calcified, whitish build start in the jaws (or mouths) of many vertebrates and occupied to defeat down food. Some animals, strikingly carnivores, also partake of teeth for the purpose hunting or instead of defensive purposes. The roots of teeth are covered by gums. The community make-up of teeth is nearly the same across the vertebrates, although there is sizeable variation in their fabric and position. The teeth of mammals get deep roots, and this pattern is also initiate in some fish, and in crocodilians. In most teleost fish, manner, the teeth are spoken for to the outer outside of the bone, while in lizards they are fond of to the inner come up of the jaw by way of one side. My main issue with this series is that it is being promoted as accurate when it certainly isn't. I understand that it took a lot of effort to make, and I don't have an issue with a minor inaccuracy here and there or tweaking it a bit to make it presentable for the screen.
The problem is that they almost rewrote every single subject that they covered. I won't mention each inaccuracy, but nowhere does the Bible state that Moses and the Pharaoh were raised together and were locked in some epic personal struggle with each other prior to the exodus or that Jesus actually entered the tomb of Lazarus to resurrect him. In fact, the Bible is pretty clear that He did not. One of the most obvious though, is the decision to rewrite the events after Paul's conversion. Barnabas was completely taken out of the picture and replaced by a pep talk given by Paul. The biggest problem is that the series completely underscores God's plan of salvation and why it is needed. These are not simple mistakes or mis-interpretations as there is no text in existence that supports the version of accounts given in this series.
I can't question the salvation of the producers because I obviously don't have that knowledge. However, there are so many serious and willful errors that even newer Christians with very basic experience probably could have been more accurate. For those that would argue that at least it's causing people to read the Bible, what then do we do with the confusion generated? This series had the chance to lay out and highlight the gift of salvation and failed. Should we now defend Joseph Smith and others who have done the same just because it may make some curious? Peter and Paul are very clear in the New Testament that we should guard ourselves against and expose false teachers. I believe that clearly applies to this series.

And in "Ancient Aliens", they denounced the existence of God.
