Obama's Decision-Makers

Sarah Pulliam Bailey

The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder has sifted through the National Journal profiles of 366 top officials in the Obama administration. Here's an interesting tidbit:

The percentage of white Christians among top officials whose religious affiliation is known dropped from 71 percent during Bush's second term to 46 percent in the Obama administration.

Sad commentary of our times and the world we are living in. But God is still alive and working daily in lives in the US and abroad.

How about black Christians? How about the total number of Christians? What about the Christians whose religious affiliation is NOT known? Why is affiliation important enough to report on? This tidbit isn't about Christians, it's about colour and affiliation. So why is this significant? Not convinced it is.

Absolutely agree with you Penny. This is a meaningless post. All I would take from it is that unlike Bush et al., this Administration is not hiring directly from Liberty University.

Heather, the whole Christian family can do without your snide and inaccurate remarks.

I do beg your pardon Stephen...it was Regent not Liberty...Pat Robertson not Jerry Falwell (although they had the same aim). Here, check it out for yourself....

Seems an awfully high number from such a small college but I'm sure you're right...they were all hired for their abilities not their beliefs.

White Christians are on the decline in the US. The face of Christianity is one of color now. CT will become a relic as long as it continues define evangelicalism so narrowly.

The percentage of white christians???????

OK- I'm truly now confused about this site?!?!? Does the color of the person's skin matter?

This truly is clear evidence to show the kind of 'change' and agenda Obama has. I only hope that our country survives his 4 years in office. God is in control though, and he has a plan.

I must also add that i am astounded by the number of people who have posted here who jump so quickly at the opportunity to cry 'racism'. This information was of statistical purposes only, yet so many of you seem to want to make it more. stop making it what it isn't!

Peter,

Please tell us how this says anything about the "change" and agenda that Obama has? All it says is: "The percentage of white Christians among top officials whose religious affiliation is known dropped from 71 percent during Bush's second term to 46 percent in the Obama administration." No one on this board made any racist allusions...we are only puzzled why white Christians seem to be the only ones singled out for this survey. There are other colors of Christians..

ah but heather that's where you are wrong. In Peter V and others like him views- I get the strong impression that to them the only Christian is a white christian.
