A Woman's Role

In my last post, I directed you to a YouTube clip of Lucas Labrador discussing the emerging church. As a follow-up, you might want to watch another clip of Lucas Labrador, addressing a different topic: A Christian Woman's Role.
As with the last clip, the views presented are extreme and controversial. So why bring them up for discussion? Because they are part of our context. To be faithful to God means to consider our whole context - the time, place, and philsophical/theological milieu in which we are born. (God always places his people in context...we can't avoid being tied to a particular time and place. See Philippians 2:5-11 for the context chosen for Jesus). Jesus paid divine attention to what was going on in the culture of his day. And this attention included the scriptural bents and interpretations of those considered on the extreme of religiosity (zealots, Pharisees, Sadducees). Why did he engage them, if they were just "lunatics" - on the edge?
We may say we don't have time to engage such ridiculous conversations—that some of us did this years ago and we are over it. But we live in an age where zealotry—in whatever form, inside whatever philosophical base—has again become attractive. The digital world is a teeming marketplace of worldviews, as much or more so now than books, newspapers, and sermons.
Posting these two clips from Lucas Labrador was a way to remind ourselves that careful and prayerful consideration of God's word and ways is even more vital now. The wider the means of dissemination (internet), the greater the influence. If you imagine that Lucas Labrador has no influence, read through the responses.
Godly women—and men—pay attention, and they ask God for wisdom as they respond. These are the signs of the times. Jesus read them and responded. He was and is the Son of an untame God (to paraphrase C.S. Lewis). He was not afraid to speak out and to call errant thinking and living what it was. The phrase, "whitewashed tombs" comes to mind.

I have come to many of the same conclusions that Lucas has come to after 16 years of sitting in one dead church after another with absolutly no fellowship of the spiritual nature. Yes, most people in the "church" are unregenerate and deceived, I'm sorry if you're one of them. Mike from Philly

I think he's basically right on a lot of things, he just over does the delivery (perhaps to intentionally offend)

I am a Christian and have watched more than a few of Mr. Labradors videos. I belive the first was on Babylon church. I thougt it was right on and can relate to the christians he speaks of who have been almost sucked spiritually dry in these churches and wonder what was happening. ( I was in an Evangelical church ) I spoke up in my own church of heresy and false prophets in the church and was basically hushed and considered a desenter in the ranks. But I know what I saw and heard was absolutly not God nor a moving of his Spirit. "Come out of her my people"
